Simply that. Please can you tell me, if you were mid 30's with a good income and expensive taste what would be in your dream hamper? I guess I'm looking for things that you would love but probably wouldn't buy for yourself? Many TIA.

Brilliant thanks all - I've got lots to look at now! I've got the feeling that I'm in for a lovely evening.
@52andblue that book will be absolutely perfect as she's the literacy lead. I'll definitely be getting that. Thank you!

Happy to help. Hope she likes it :)
I sent it to my oldest friend today for her birthday (with soap, chocolate and a beeswax candle: all a bit less posh than the fancies above but she will enjoy them and they were local and altogether only about £30)

If you are spending a couple of hundred pounds in total.

An iPad

Have a look at some beauty boxes, check out cosmetopia on youtube, she is amazing for breaking it all down in value for money. Cult beauty have a lot of nice gifts if you know her skin type or perhaps something that suits most, Glow recipe or olaplex gift set for hair.
A candle is a good idea, the white company or molton brown
Nice gloves and scarf
Ugg slippers or similar
Nice loungewear from next

Earrings. You can't go wrong with earrings, or socks.

Silk pillowcase
Jo Malone candle
Cashmere socks

I second most of what everyone else has said but...
I would love a pair of silk pillowcases but not one (TKMaxx often have them otherwise a pair will take up most of your budget).
I would love some cashmere wool mix socks (M&S have them) but not pure cashmere as they are only really suitable as bed socks, they get holes if you walk in them.
I love Diptyque candles, the small ones are not that expensive but, if you have a few pounds left over, the Aldi Jo Malone dupes are pretty good and I would gratefully accept a couple as a filler gift Grin
L'Occitane hand creams are another good filler gift
Uniqlo does great cashmere gloves that are always on offer in December, lovely and soft but not so expensive that I will cry when I leave them on the tube.
But yes, yes, yes to anything from Aesop, Claus Porto, Ortigia and some Speiglau glasses but you probably would need to know her favourite drink (they are designed to enhance the flavour).
Other ideas:
This Works pillow sleep spray
Egyptian Magic Cream

Museum shops like the V&A and Tate are always good for small filler items, if you have a few pounds left over.

One of the best gifts I ever had was a book subscription from Daunts. You can let Daunts pick the books, you can choose a theme, or the recipient can choose but you can always return the book if they send something you already have or don't want. It was amazing to have a lovely, beautifully wrapped book arrive in the post every month.
