Do you wrap presents from Santa?

When I was younger, presents from Santa were set out in the living room unwrapped but still in box/packaging. In some way it felt more 'real' as presents from grandparents etc came wrapped Grin

I did the same for one year old DD last year though set up toys and unpacked them so they were easier to play with. I'm now wondering what to do this year, she's only just two so no real idea of what's happening but I think this will be the year I set the tradition.

What does everyone else do? To wrap or not to wrap?

Nope. But he only brings stocking fillers here.

Shieldingending · 09/11/2020 21:30

Wrap them here, it builds suspense and takes longer! My stocking presents were never wrapped as a child but I like doing this for my children. Obviously Father Christmas has different paper to mine!!

EatTheHamTina · 09/11/2020 21:30

Yes but it's in different paper.
I'm going to build DS's spaceship kitchen before Christmas though and maybe wrap it or put a bow on it. It has so many bits I'll be there for a few days.

Oly4 · 09/11/2020 21:31

Yes but in different paper

Ayupmeduck · 09/11/2020 21:32

Yep in different paper & pop in the stockings. Big presents are from us/family

iswhois · 09/11/2020 21:33

My mum wrapped them in hello kitty paper (that's what I loved)

Presents fro mum and dad we're wrapped in a different format of hello kitty paper, I never made the connection as assumed Santa had special access to the factories.

Depends on what u tell your kids

merryhouse · 09/11/2020 21:37

Father Christmas presents go in the stocking, unwrapped (sometimes I admit the stocking overflowed a bit; then they went in a large Christmas bag Grin)

Persipan · 09/11/2020 21:38

Santa only ever brought me stocking filler things to keep me out of trouble until Christmas Day got going properly and I'm anticipate doing the same for my baby. I don't get giving Santa credit for the good stuff! And I did read an interesting point the other day, actually, that if children living in poverty see that Santa brings their friends the 'main event' presents like trampolines and iPads and whatever, then that can be really hard for them to process because it just seems like Santa doesn't like them, or they haven't been good enough.

M0mmyneedswine · 09/11/2020 21:41

Everything wrapped so it takes longer to get through, different paper though

UndertheCedartree · 09/11/2020 21:43

Father Christmas only brings stockings here and they are always unwrapped. It stills takes ages to get through them as they dip into the stocking to pull one thing out at a time! I think having toys set out especially for younger DC is lovely as they can start playing straight away and not get fed up getting the toy out the packgaging and set up. I often set something up on my DC's birthdays. This year I'd bought school uniform and school supplies for my DD's dolls and set them up in a scene.

AnnaSW1 · 09/11/2020 21:44

Yes but only the shocking pressies are from Santa. It's wrapped in tissue paper

Glitterinthegrey · 09/11/2020 21:47

Santa brings stocking presents, all individually wrapped so that they take longer to unwrap - the rule is that at long as it's at least 6am, the kids can unwrap their stocking gifts without having to wake us up. Thus ensuring we get to sleep in until at least 6:30 on Christmas morning.

megletthesecond · 09/11/2020 21:48

No. But he only brings stocking presents.

JamMakingWannaBe · 09/11/2020 21:48

Unwrapped. Santa can wrap his own fricking gifts - I'm too busy! (and unwrapped for me and DH growing up).

ShowOfHands · 09/11/2020 21:51

Father Christmas brings only the stocking and a single gift and it's all wrapped in special paper. The dc always wake up in the wee small hours and put their stockings next to them on the bed and they both love the crinkling of the paper. They lie there rustling it and sleeping fitfully, peering at the shapes and trying to guess what they are.

Anoisagusaris · 09/11/2020 21:53

Unwrapped and ‘displayed’ under the tree.

BefuddledPerson · 09/11/2020 21:53

Yes in different paper. Father Christmas is careful to use unbranded paper, often quite cheap I have noticed. He wraps each child's presents in different paper.

NullcovoidNovember · 09/11/2020 22:37

Persipan the credit surely comes from the the joy and surprise on dc face?

What more credit do people need?..

WillSantaBeComingToTown · 09/11/2020 22:48

No, the elves wrap them under the supervision of Mrs Claus. He brings everything to us as we are very lucky. Sometimes it takes the poor elves hours and a whole bottle of port to wrap them.

Ltdannygreen · 09/11/2020 23:18

Yep, it slows down the chaos and the fact they’ve woken us up at 6am so we make them unwrap thier stockings one present at a time then they go to the stuff from santa ...then the tree...

Ltdannygreen · 09/11/2020 23:20

@BefuddledPerson glad I’m not the only one, someone told me I was weird but DS now 12 almost noticed 3 years ago that my mum had used the same wrapping paper as Santa because she had knocked so,e of mine, now I have to hide it so there’s no isssues.

HintOfVintagePink · 09/11/2020 23:25

He only does stockings here and perhaps one larger, shared gift but they are all wrapped in paper with pictures of Father Christmas on. Usually a Victorian style print if I can find one.

GlowingOrb · 09/11/2020 23:26

Yea we wrap Santa gifts in red and white paper.

I loved sneaking out to peek during the night. I’m glad things were wrapped so I just got
To imagine what was inside, not get spoiled.

BeaMends · 09/11/2020 23:37

I wrapped all the stocking presents in the same paper with a Santa design on it - the same one for a few years (I bought several large rolls of it). Only had one dc, but if you are wrapping for more than one, then you could use a different pattern for each child, so they don't get mixed up.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/11/2020 23:40

Santa only brings stocking gifts here with cheapo paper because he has so many stocking to fill Wink
(Also, if Santa brings anything else, the DCs suggest that maybe I just ask Santa to buy them an iPad if I don't have enough money to buy it myself so that's how it's always been here)
