So being single at Christmas time always makes me feel lonely as everyone gets lovely gifts from their partners, I get a couple of little things from family members but nothing special.

This year I'm thinking I will treat myself but I'm not sure what to get 😂😂 so what would you buy yourself for Xmas?

I'm not single and I get some lovely presents from my DH and DC but every year I 'buy myself' a massage for when Christmas is over and I very much look forward to it every year Smile

Becca19962014 · 08/11/2020 10:58

I'm on my own so always buy my own gifts. I buy them before October usually and wrap them ready for Christmas Day along with my cards.

Unless you're into Star Trek I doubt my gifts would be of interest to you though! Also I come from a family who hate Star Trek and would never buy me anything related so I've always got myself a little something trek related Wink

Last year I bought trifle baileys by mistake which I really enjoyed so I've got some more of that this year too!

I had a friend who would do the same thing.

If I was single I would definitely do a Christmas stocking for myself! Properly wrapped mini gifts and everything.

A Beauty (or other) advent calendar was a lot of fun the couple of years I had them - having a little treat every day in December felt very special, and that way it’s also a genuine surprise every day.

For a proper gift, it depends on budget of course. But let’s say it’s about £100, this year I’d get a lovely cashmere scarf. Maybe a cashmere beanie too if I could find a set on sale somewhere. Or an Amelia Jane London pom-pom hat and scarf set.

Or, a great pair of chelsea boots.

A cape (in the January sales).

Maybe a merino wool jumper dress.

Or a wool fedora.

It’s just me and dd (16), she will make me something as she is super creative and I will cry (as usual) and love it but as a treat to myself I’m downloading West Wing on Sky, I’ve seen it loads of times but not for a few years so I’m really looking forward to watching it over Christmas

murmurgam · 08/11/2020 11:35

I always buy myself something - we exchange token gifts only.

Not sure what I'll get this year, in the past have bought myself a coffee machine, Sonos speaker, down filled slippers

MaudHatter · 08/11/2020 14:47

I prefer to buy my own gifts or tell my husband what I’d like . He’s not good at choosing presents himself . In the past I’ve bought a grandfather clock and he paid most of it after I paid the deposit. I’ve bought myself paintings before . A cashmere cardigan , leather gloves , books , a Lego gingerbread house 🤫

I love the idea of a Lego gingerbread house!

Yes always buy myself gifts Grin. This year I'm getting myself a new pair of leather driving gloves, nice pj's and a new flask.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/11/2020 15:03

If you have to pay to download West Wing from sky, don't. Sign into more4 and get it for free from there instead.

WellTidy · 08/11/2020 15:10

My aunt always went into the town centre and bought herself something on Christmas Eve (generally something to wear), even when money was tight. She used to have a huge family, so received lots of gifts. But she would say that she then knew that she would have something she really wanted.

I liked her style.

I bought myself som Occitane almond shower oil and milk veil last year and got a lovely freebie set, which cheered me up no end.

kulaexchange · 08/11/2020 17:14

Absolutely!!!

Cashmere jumper
Bamboo socks from bam
A nice candle
Books
Bolga basket
Wool blanket
Nice smellies or make up

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 08/11/2020 17:21

I’m not single but I always get myself a present, I’ve been so disappointed in the past that I always get myself something good!

This year I have been saving for something major so it’s a set of Elemis from QVC, I normally buy some nice clothing too but I am being frugal Grin

Laurie01 · 08/11/2020 17:35

My DH is rubbish at buying gifts so always buy for myself.
I'm thinking of buying Trinny London products...
I love cashmere.
Alcohol.
Perfume.
Chocolate.

Sumlove · 08/11/2020 17:36

I am single and ALWAYS get myself a few bits 😃 this year: dressing gown, kindle, always some sanctuary bath stuff and usually nice skincare. Oh and chocolate 👌🏼

Holothane · 08/11/2020 17:42

Oodies and I’ve had loads of nice food trees and nativity advent calendar this year.

DK123 · 08/11/2020 17:44

I started getting myself something at Christmas and for my birthday when I realised STBXH wasn't going to make an effort. For Christmas it's usually a pair of pjs, a perfume and something like a new handbag. Things I'd normally consider to extravagant to buy for myself the rest of the year. For my birthday I'd get myself something like an item of jewellery

Whiskyinajar · 08/11/2020 17:45

I've treated myself to a subscription for the Good Food magazine and it comes with a free book. I've chosen Nigella's Cook, Eat, Repeat.

Subscription was £34.99 which I don't think was too bad for 12 issues and free book.

I'm married but hubby doesn't have a great imagination. Told him not to buy me anything as I am happy with my magazine subscription.

Willowkins · 08/11/2020 17:48

I buy myself L'Occitaine. I've told the DC I'd like a garden trowel and fork.

HMSSophie · 08/11/2020 17:58

Ooh what a good idea! This will be my third solo Xmas, I'll get some bits from my mum and DD but now I realise I can buy myself something... oh yes!

throwaway10000 · 08/11/2020 18:05

Not single but I buy myself things all the timeBlush

Everyone says I’m hard to buy for so tend to give me token gifts...but I don’t think that’s true! I’d be happy with anything.

Recently I ordered new speakers and some Apple Watch straps! I doubt anyone I know would have thought to buy these for me so why not??

For Christmas I will probably get myself a bottle of my favourite perfume and some makeup bitsGrin

orangenasturtium · 08/11/2020 18:05

An advent calendar. My ex used to expect me buy my own presents, as well as everyone else's, and after years of watching the entire extended family open the gifts that I had spent hours choosing and wrapping, I bought myself a Liberty advent calendar. As nice as it is to buy yourself a treat, the element of surprise is missing, along with some of the joy.

PrimeraVez · 08/11/2020 18:23

DH is pretty good at gifts and my mum always buys me something nice but I still always buy myself a birthday and Christmas present. I am very generous with others throughout the year so always think fuck it, I can be generous to myself too!

This Christmas I intend to treat myself to a new purse and will probably spend a couple of hundred pounds on it.

Heartbeats0708 · 08/11/2020 18:43

Yes, it's one of the best parts of being single for me! I did well for my birthday this year Wink
Christmas shopping is underway and so far I have a bottle of perfume, a huge bar of chocolate (must resist) and some wireless headphones. On the lookout for some lovely bedding, the perfect slippers and some bath treats.

Christmasbiscuit · 08/11/2020 18:55

First Christmas I've been single in my adult life!
Going to get myself some new make-up.
Also have my birthday coming up and I've got some new pjs, slippers and a book Smile
