DD is currently obsessed with makeup. She always asks for her own nail varnish, makeup and perfume. I worry about her skin so try to avoid it but it is on her xmas list. I ahve just seen this.

Would you get it for a 5 year old?

Buy her products specially designed for children at this age. You can find plenty of make up for children.
If she really likes that particular scent, you can buy but I would not let her handle it on her own. I used to spray my own daughter with perfume till she was 8 or so. Just in case they spray their eyes or someones elses, or their mouths.

My three year old loves wearing my perfumes - I'd get it for her. It looks cute.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 07/11/2020 20:47

I would, £4 bargain

ConorMasonsWife · 07/11/2020 20:56

I would, I had make up sets(children ones) as a child and don't think I was 'sexualised' I wore it in the house, I liked to play grown-up, it wasn't a corset and thong!

Marsis · 07/11/2020 20:56

2nd Zara got my DD one in a similar phase, Disney Princess lovely light smell. I ended up using more of it than her.

OhTheRoses · 07/11/2020 21:00

I would. I buy perfume and beautiful things for me. Not for men or any other sexual reasons.

debbiewest0 · 07/11/2020 21:11

I got this perfume last year as I like Ghost. I thought I would like this by same brand.
In my opinion it is a horrible strong smell and I had to bin it as it was so strong, nasty smell.... my whole family kept asking what the horrid smell was whenever I tried it. Is the original one on offer?

CarrotCakeCrumbs · 07/11/2020 21:22

My daughter has asked for make up for her 5th birthday, I have got her a mix of play make up (wooden sets to pretend with) and some childrens make up sets that are hypoallergenic and equally important: washable Grin. Superdrug sells some body mists that aren't too strong and don't last very long at all, I gave my daughter one of mine to play with and she loves having her own 'perfume'. Its just role playing, I won't let her wear make up and cover herself in make up to go out with, but theres nothing wrong in letting her play pretend by copying me.

I remember pinching my mums miniature perfumes when I was that age, I wasn’t a girl girl at all, a Tom boy in fact but I liked to smell perfume.

I would worry about a 5 year old having perfume though (depending on the 5 year old) and would worry about her getting too much on her skin. Have you looked at other options such as body sprays? Lush snow fairy body spray would be a good one, it smells sweet and is probably less harmful to skin (and your carpet)?

mam0918 · 08/11/2020 14:04

perfume shop has disney princess purfumes and primark does ones too (like minnie mouse) and I would go that route honestly

or another option is body mist, I had one at 8 years old and loved it and my DH bought me one last year and I much prefer it daily than purfume which is harsher (body mist tends to be fresher smelling)

HokeyWokey · 08/11/2020 14:12

I'd buy the one in the OP.

LadyCatStark · 08/11/2020 18:36

Not if it doesn’t have a spray top but if it does then why not?? There’s nothing sexualised about a smell!

If it’s not suitable I also recommend Next perfumes.

LadyCatStark · 08/11/2020 18:39

I definitely wouldn’t recommend the Disney princess type ones. I used to support a child in primary school who had a lot of safeguarding issues going on. One day she came in smelling strongly of wee/ alcohol, I couldn’t really decipher which. Anyway, I was keeping an eye on the situation when she asked me what I thought of her Disney Princess perfume! It nearly caused some big issues!

Lookfortheheros · 08/11/2020 18:50

Is this serious? Perfume for a 5 year old? No. Don't get her perfume.

AlwaysLatte · 08/11/2020 18:52

It's cute, I don't see why not. Except if it's an irritant to eyes or skin if spilled accidentally.

Redwinestillfine · 08/11/2020 18:56

No, but I would not buy make up or nail varnish for a 5 year old. Christmas lists are a guide to get 1 or 2 things from, not a list to get whatever is down there imo. Fully accept others feel differently.
