White Company Candles

I bought 2 votives. One winter and the other fir. In the hope that I’d love one or the other and there would be a Black Friday discount for one of the bigger candles.

I’ve lit fir this evening and.......nothing. Just nothing. It’s like a 50 p home bargains plain candle burning giving nothing. Except it cost £12.

That's what I found with the Winter tealights. Vague waft of orange, not worth the money.

WellTidy · 05/11/2020 19:08

I’ve only ever had two white company candles - Seychelles and Fig - and they’ve each been really lovely and highly scented. How disappointing.

mintbiscuit · 05/11/2020 19:20

The small ones produce no smell. I’ve made that mistake. You need the larger ones, around the £20 mark. My god the scent is incredible and fills a v large living room. I swear by these. I use them throughout the year and Fir and Winter are my go to Xmas scents.

The largest ones produce even more scent but I find the £20 ones work perfectly well in my living room.

Thanks for that. I am disappointed and going to be in touch with them direct. I am concerned about spending more.

I was also going to get the fir hanging things for the Christmas tree. Reluctant to now.

I always get mine from Sainsbury's can highly recommend.

OllyBJolly · 05/11/2020 19:26

I got the three wick Winter candle last year in their Black Friday sale. It was gorgeous and lasted for ages. Scent was heavenly.

ArtemisBean · 05/11/2020 19:33

I love the smell of the Winter one but I've never been able to bring myself to spend the money. It seems such a lot for something you're literally setting fire to! If anyone has come across any cheaper knockoffs with a similar scent, let me know 😁

tobee · 05/11/2020 19:39

Been there done that.

This is why I buy the Winter diffuser now which is great!

LizzieMacQueen · 05/11/2020 19:42

Yes I was disappointed in their Orange Rind I'd bought last year for a xmas scent. Wasn't cheap either.

I've swapped from scented candles to a diffuser now.

PerfidiousAlbion · 05/11/2020 19:46

I buy the diffusers now. They last much longer. A dab on the back of the radiators makes the house smell gorgeous for months.

Fridgeandkitchen · 05/11/2020 20:09

Thanks. May be a diffuser is the way to go. I was so looking forward to getting them.

I've just ordered the set with small candle, diffuser and room spray in Winter. I've not had it before and was hoping it would be nice. How dissapointing for you - hope you get some joy when you contact them.

NowhereNearTheHighSt · 07/11/2020 17:35

@Fridgeandkitchen what size room are you burning them in, I find with votive I only get a decent scent if I burn them.in our downstairs loo.

Iheartwhitetshirts · 07/11/2020 20:17

@Fridgeandkitchen do you mean the little white bells you buy and spray with the winter scent and add to your tree? If so don’t do it! I made that mistake and the scent doesn’t last.

But PPs are right l, the bigger candles have lovely pay off. I’m waiting for Black Friday for my winter candies at 20% off.

Dinocan · 07/11/2020 20:23

Yep. I bought the Christmas candle with all the stuff in the wax last year. £25 quid or so....literally no smell when burning! Biggest rip off ever. I love the WC Christmas scent, it’s a shame they didn’t actually inject it into the scented candles.

starsinyourpies · 07/11/2020 21:08

The winter one in glass is lovely, last year I was very disappointed by Winter stand-alone candle.

PurBal · 07/11/2020 21:16

We buy Fir and Winter every year and have now problems with the scent. We love them. Sainsburys, M&S and Next all do good ones too.

Yes! That’s for the heads up. I’ll not waste money.
