What are you getting your 3 year olds for Christmas this year?

DS is three just after Christmas this year so I have Christmas and birthday to buy for and I'm a little short of inspiration. Also, due to Covid etc., we'll be spending most of the festive period at home not doing much (usually we'd be doing Christmas parties, carol concerts, meet Santa, zoo and soft play trips), so I'd like to get a few things which will really keep him busy.

Can I ask you for your ideas (and then steal them Grin)?

Mine are playmobil mad, they(twins) will be 4 shortly before Xmas, so not sure if that counts, but they absolutely love it, got given a zoo and farm set off a friend that had been her kids so have ordered more as they lose themselves in it for ages ( win win) . Seems expensive but Google discount codes as I got 15 % off.

Bubbletrouble43 · 05/11/2020 13:32

They do a 123 range without all the little parts for under 4s by the way

Bubbletrouble43 · 05/11/2020 13:41

Last year when they just turned 3 we got duplo sets and they still love those. Recommend the toy story train it's still on sale, and good value

Iwantalonglie · 05/11/2020 13:47

Thank you! Will have a look at these suggestions.

DS was given a second hand train set last year and we've slowly added bits to that. I'll get him a couple more Thomas trains for his stocking, but still not sure about his main presents for Christmas and birthday. I'm normally a last minute Christmas shopper but feel like this might be the year to become a little more organised!

Love the look of the Toy Story train!

My dd is 3 just after Christmas too. We are getting a globber scooter and helmet. Lego duplo, waffle blocks, dolls and accessories, books.

Ejb86 · 05/11/2020 13:56

Mine is 3 on 21st December. So far he's having lots of Blippi things, a paw patrol scalextric type thing, a number of magic painting books, a mini trampoline, an art set, and a pop up olaf game.

Beautyoftheirdreams · 05/11/2020 13:59

A kinetic sand construction box which I know will keep him occupied for hours. A Thomas the tank train track, an Asda shop, some play doh sets and some arts and crafts bits and pieces

LayTheTableMabel · 05/11/2020 13:59

Not quite 3 but we are buying lo a kiddizoom camera, wooden puzzles and wooden doctors set.

Shitfuckoh · 05/11/2020 14:19

My 3 year old is Paw Patrol mad.
Got him the Dino rescue patroller, 3 vehicles (still got the other 3 to get).
He's also got a couple of Peppa pig bits.
Brio farm train set too.
Duplo
I've got him the Sylvanian families tram & nursery bus as he loved playing with my friends SF stuff & as he loves vehicles he'll love them

Iwantalonglie · 05/11/2020 14:26

Also Paw Patrol mad her so will have a look at the Dino rescue patroller. We've only got Chase and Zuma vehicles so far.

I've been looking at some Paw Patrol bundles on ebay. Has anyone got the lookout tower thing?

Does he have a bike? We gave DS a balance bike the Christmas before he turned 3. We'll probably get him a proper bike with pedals (AND BRAKES!) this Christmas.

EcoCustard · 07/11/2020 18:35

3 year old DD is getting a new scooter, Hubelino to go with her Duplo, playdoh creations set, jellycat dog, Usborne loft the flap books, Barbie doll, Ker Plunk game,a few animals to go with her Playmobil ranger station and a stocking of small bits.

Marsis · 07/11/2020 18:41

We’ve gone for the look out from the ‘true
Metal’ series for our 3 year old. It’s a bit smaller than most as the cars are about the size of a hot wheel car which he’s also a big fan of. 3.5 here so worryingly slightly he might grow out of Paw Patrol and hoping the cross compatibility gives it a bit more longevity.

Wooden castle with figures, Brio add ons for train set, vet set, scooter, craft set, Grapat figures, teepee, magnifying glass & bug book, simple games like snakes & ladders, books, bath toys, nightlight, paints, play dough, and of the Great Little Trading Company type toys, like the cafe or market stall.

mummyof2boys30 · 07/11/2020 19:36

Mine are older now but loved their toy kitchen at that age, duplo, and happyland

Mummyme87 · 07/11/2020 20:43

My youngest also turns 3 in January.
Wooden moving crane, construction vehicles, paw patrol toys, maybe some play Mobil

AnnaSW1 · 07/11/2020 20:59

A bike with pedals
Dollls house
Peppa pig stuff
Paw patrol stuff
Tweet beats
Wiggles stuff
Toy electric guitar
Playdoh stuff
Led writing tablet
Books
Jigsaws
Thomas train set
Jiggly pup
Glopen set
Recorder

Iwantalonglie · 08/11/2020 02:14

Thank you for all your responses! Some great ideas here.

I've bought a bundle of paw patrol toys second hand which I hope he'll like since he's a huge fan - mostly pups and cars, though I might try to get the small paw patrol tower as well.

He has a trike which he loves so we might try a balance bike for main birthday gift. Not sure he's ready for a real bike yet.

I've got a few more second-hand Thomas trains and some interesting track bits (an engine-wash and a lifting-bridge) to go in his stocking. We'll also add some playdoh, duplo, books etc.

I like the look of the Kerplunk game. He's probably old enough to start playing some simple games so we might add that and some of the Orchard ones as well.

I've love to get him a play kitchen but DH doesn't think we have the space for it.

My son turned 3 not long after Xmas last year and some of the things he got were:

Balance bike
Marble run
Car mat along with (more) hot wheel cars
Kinetic sand set
Build your own car set with screwdriver
Doctor set

This year approaching 4 his main presents are

New scooter
Thomas trackmaster set

HarrietM87 · 08/11/2020 02:55

DS is 3 in spring and we’ve got him some toys to add to his kitchen which he loves - coffee machine, baking set and some extra food. Plus some add ins for his train set (brio), books, and we’re doing a stocking for the first time this year so will do small things for that like binoculars and few play doh pots.

HintOfVintagePink · 08/11/2020 07:14

I’d recommend the Vtech Kidizoom camera. Our Sainsbury’s also have some really good Thomas sets in at the moment for a fraction of their normal price. They may also be online?

KitKatastrophe · 08/11/2020 08:42

My daughter was nearly 3 last Christmas. She got lots of playmobil which she plays with loads, and her main present was a scooter.
