Last Yr me and dh didn't buy for eachother as we had a lot of debt and had moved home

This Yr we've cleared the cards. Got the house to a decent standard, done all the kids Xmas shopping so we've agreed on 100 each for xmas

We did say we wernt helping with the ideas but he's honestly awful at gift buying and I'm really not materialistic and want things. He's begging for help for ideas.
But I honestly have no ideas.

I'm not one for having loads of clothes because I'm fussy. Tend to just buy in supermarkets ( plus the kids tend to get stains on me etc)
Footwear hard as I have a painful foot so live in trainers.

I don't wear make up or wear jewellery.
Rarely get hair done, because I simply don't have time as dh works 6 days and only has Sundays off when salon closed. I can occasionally get a sitter for a wash and cut but not 3 hours for a color so home dye.

I like candles, pjs and slippers. That's it. And I've just had a birthday and got all that.

What else is there?
I need inspiration

Mines changed two oldies, already paid for, slippers already put away and £100 worth of books for kindle, I can’t wait loads of books hopefully an anaesthetic text book, Kindle as they’re expensive.

Oi! Cillian Murphy is on my list @AvocadoBubbles 😂

BUT, in order to avoid a Christmas argument I’ll swap him for Richard Armitage 😍

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 03/11/2020 20:05

Thank you Flowers

In my stocking I’d love Peter Capaldi.

I just like chill out things, like PJs, books, bubble baths, chocolate. I'm quite cheap really!

Me and DP don't generally get each other things as we prefer to spend the money on his son, or perhaps a nice meal out instead, but we haven't had the conversation this year yet. I think we might perhaps do some little gifts, as it's probably just going to be two of us this year .. DSS will be at his mum's this time, DH's parents have told us they will still be shielding rather than doing the normal big family Christmas, and whatever the 'rules' end up being, I can't see it being any more generous than 6 can meet indoors, which rules my side of the family out for us, too. So I'll probably be the one to drop out to give them the chance to enjoy things.

Secretly looking forward to it being just us, as we usually go to our respective parents' houses to save on the drama, so for once we'll be able to just get drunk in front of the TV and eat crap have wonderful festive experiences together.

I’d like some Tahitian pearl earrings £££
Dubarry boots
A painting by my favourite Paula McKinney
A limited edition print by Kathryn Callaghan although as it’s a wish list I’d get an original . Any of the bird ones would do
A beautiful leather hobo style handbag . Doesn’t have to be designer
A new leather wallet
Lots of the penguin classics hardcover books
Perfume
A beautiful Persian rug for my hallway. I’ve seen a gorgeous one in Ikea but it’s £800 😱
A crochet blanket kit from Attic 24 or Jamie crow

What I’ll probably get
Some cultured pearl earrings and some wool 😂

LtGreggs · 03/11/2020 21:44

@LadyCatStark keep running! Maybe try some trail running shoes if you want trainers that feel more 'substantial' in the wet. Or a second pair of your normal trainers, then there's always a dry pair to hand for tomorrow?

I would like a new cap for running in, a voucher to get all the books on next year's booker shortlist, a monthly flower subscription, a night away by myself in a nice hotel, and a coffee and walnut cake.

pinkksugarmouse · 10/11/2020 11:17

Ideally I would have my bathroom finally decorated. Grown up stepdaughters brother (same mum, different Dad) offered to do for us at cost because I think he borrowed money from DH in the past and anyway I digress. Due to covid restrictions and a lack of plaster (were people bulk buying it? 🤨 It hasn't happened.

But DH has got my presents and usually takes my subtle 😂 hints.

Pootles34 · 10/11/2020 11:23

DH and I are both buying each other a £100 voucher for our favourite hotel, so we can get away (hopefully!) next year.

Also on my list - a new One Hundred Stars robe, theatre tickets, restaurant voucher, (I'm trying to push to support places that have really struggled recently, and buying these things for other people too); perfume, a jasmine houseplant, and new slippers.

NC4Now · 10/11/2020 11:39
