Go pro alternative for 12 year old? Any recommendations?

We'd like to get our 12 year old ds a video action camera, he loves his skateboard/scooter/bike so I think he'd have fun recording himself. Go pros seem incredibly expensive and the choice is bewildering anyway. He would need something very straightforward to use as he doesn't have the patience for anything too complicated!
Has anyone bought anything similar?

We got one on Amazon last year and it’s been really good. I’ll see if I can find the link. It wasn’t expensive.
