I'm going Christmas daft for first year ever...

This will be our first Christmas at home as we always go to my family. I've never had to do much at home other than put a tree up, anything else seemed like a waste as we wouldn't be home for half of December. Travel is not going to happen this year sadly and we're staying put.
Anyway, it's like I've entered a parallel universe and, quite frankly, it's glorious.
I've even got a theme planned starting 1st Dec (Scandi/Nordic, if you want to know) and I've bought new festive bedding. And tea towels! God, I've bought Scandi CUSHIONS. Believe me, this is a first. The excitement is real.
Anyone else 'going for it' as something completely different?!

Yes - exactly the same! We are never at home but I've also bought the bedding and am planning on some Christmas craft and film weekends through December. Xmas Smile

I'm making cushion covers this year, with a snowflake theme.

I get something for the tree every year in ornamental mini holiday over a long weekend 5-6-7-8 Decembe r, but this year we'll be going nowhere so I'm making a bunch of tree decs to celebrate us and the nice things we've done this year.

I'm also making small tree decs for the new friends i have made this year through zoom! Bit weird, but my social circle has grown Grin and we're all sewers. I'm looking forward to getting a couple of surprises in the post, I don't usually get much for Xmas myself.

I haven't made a Xmas cake for years, but this year I'm making one, next weekend. It should have been this weekend but I have a stinking cold.

I'm looking forward to being at home, walking the dog, eating crap, zooming family (I'm abroad, so we'd have to zoom anyway!).

I'm so excited too OP. It's a double whammy of feeling in control of something and the DC starting to reach an age where they actually get it (oldest is 5). On top of that there's the fact that I bloody love Christmas anyway.

I've got a new theme (warm scandi is changing to cold scandi) and I've been so organised with buying and planning that I'm almost done shopping for the children already. I've been got a spreadsheet for goodness sake! It's very therapeutic, and also practical; usually I do one shop at the end of November for all presents and the rest of my money in December is budgeted for food. So if I've missed bits or think of other items or need another present for a forgotten relative then I have to panic and stress about how I'm going to afford to cover it. Being organised early means I have a full month to sort out what else I might need so I really can make sure everything is sorted and that makes it much more enjoyable for me and not just the benefactors of my efforts Halloween Grin

I would like to but my partner doesnt celebrate Christmas and im normally with my family for 3 or 4 days but wont be there this tear, the first ever!

So i may decorate the spare room abit, its where i sleep (due to snoring)

But havent got much money.

I wonder if i could get a super cheap 2 foot prelit xmas tree somewhere Blush

I found myself considering purchasing xmas cushions & towels for the first time ever. This year has been so miserable I want to just cheer up our living space.
