Help needed with "High School Musical"

I'd like to get the DVD of "High School Musical" for my 9 year old neice for Christmas as she tells me it's the latest craze but I'm not really sure what it is I should be looking for.

Everytime I look it up on Google I can only see "High School Musical Encore Edition" or "High School Musical 2".

I just want the first version so why can't I just see "High School Musical" anywhere, or is High School Musical Encore Edition" effectively High School Musical 1?

I understood it was a film a bit like Grease, or is it just a stage show so would the DVD of it just be like a concert?

Our version is High School Musical encore edition. It has the original film version on it, and the encore version - which is sing along version (subtitles for songs)..

HSM2 is the second film, which is released on DVd on November 2nd - have it on preorder tor DD

It's not a stage show - it's a musical set in a High School, aimed at children rather than adults.

DD is somewhat HSM obsessed, lol!

Do you mind my asking how much you paid for your first DVD? I've just seen a boxed new one on eBay for £19.99. It seems to be £34.99 on Amazon which is little more than I really want to pay but I've never used eBay and am a little dubious.
