Personalised stockings that can be added to with potential future arrival?

I have a two year old, and I think she'd understand enough to enjoy having a stocking this year, and I'd like us to all have personalised stockings. However, we're currently ttc, so hopefully will have another child in the next few years (ideally by next Christmas but I know it doesn't always work like that!) and obviously I ultimately want four identical, but personalised stockings.

Is there somewhere I can buy nice ones that will definitely still be in stock in a year or two? Or could I buy four identical 'plain' ones and personalise myself? Equally I don't want to jinx myself, it took a bit longer than planned to conceive dd. This is fairly minor but I hate waste and wouldn't like to have multiple stockings and I feel there should be a solution but can't think of one.

If you buy plain ones you can get them embroidered professionally.

Get a cheap one for DD for now, and then get everyone personalised stockings after DC2 is here. It's better to order them all together and you might get a discount for ordering 4 all at once. Meanwhile DD is still young enough that she probably won't notice or mind too much what stocking she has.

I got a personalised stocking for DC1 a couple of years ago, but it's not that great* so I think I might just get him a new one now that DC2 is here and she needs one too.

*Check the measurements as I stupidly got one that's too small! I don't spend too much on stocking presents but it's hard to find presents that are physically small!

Obviously there are no guarantees that a place will stay in business, especially in the current climate. But we have added to our stocking collection from here 3 times over the last five years as our family has grown: handmadechristmasco.com

Like a previous poster said, there’s no guarantee that somewhere will remain in business...

Having said that, Lands End have stockings that can be personalized, and even if the actual designs on the stockings change, the style has been the same for a few years:

I got ours about 4 years ago from there.

I got some absolutely beautiful ones from Santa's Little workshop about 4 years ago. They are expensive but really lovely. I've just had second daughter and ordered another from there so my daughters will have matching stockings and sacks. Highly recommend!

I looked at Santa's Little Workshop last time and was put off by the price but they do look lovely.

It's surprisingly difficult to find good quality stockings with the plain classic design (red sock with white trim).

I made one for each of us last year (DS's first Christmas) with our initials on. I've saved the last bits of felt to make a fourth in case we have another child.

@niki26
What size stockings do you have from Santa's little workshop?

niki26 · 29/10/2020 10:09

@NameChange30 The classic!

You could get Liberty print stockings. Lots of different places make them, even if one seller goes out of business there will be others making similar. Plus they look good in mismatched prints.
