Can't afford a hot chocolate velvetiser, reckon my soup maker will work?

Cannot justify the cost of the proper one, but my soup maker is gather dust in the cupboard. Thinking of dusting it off to use as a hot chocolate station over Christmas?

I have no idea what a hot chocolate velvetiser is, sounds incredible!

I just use the Lavazza milk frother for hot chocolate - cost £20 in John Lewis Black Friday.

Do you have a slow cooker? That works wonders for mulled wine...

The Velvetiser is made by Dualit. Dualit have their own one which is half the price of the Velvetiser. Not tried it though.

@MsMiaWallace we’ve used it pretty much daily since last Christmas, either for fancy coffees or for hot chocolate.

Even at full price, I’d say it’s a bargain.

We’ve got the milk frother too - it was my biggest Mumsnet bargain last Christmas.

Oh worth waiting until Black Friday then for discounts?

Lavazza definitely. Was 19 on amazon in black Friday but also 19 in john lewis which is where I got mine.

Currently drinking a frothy hot chocolate although its made with nesquik powder as we have run out of the posh stuff

It's all in the frothy milk and a good quality hot chocolate - so get either a half good coffee machine with milk frother or a.. milk frother.

We have the Lavazza and find it excellent.

I was watching the hotel chocolat tv programme yesterday. I was thinking about their hot chocolate maker. I've heard it doesn't make hot chocolate very hot. I don't know what a soup maker does. But give it a go. I've got a milk frother. I don't drink dairy milk and it warms and froths really well. Looks a bit like flask and was about £20

I'll give it a go, and report back!

@Plussizejumpsuit no it's not very hot. It's the temperature where u drink it immediately and not hang about waiting for it to cool down
