Cat-themed gifts for 10 year old boy

MrsWonderland · 25/10/2020 07:06

My son is cat-obsessed but loads of cat-themed gifts are incredibly girly (think glittery slippers and onesies, pink pens, hair clips, lip gloss etc). He's acquired cat books, cat top trumps, a cat calendar, cat socks and a cat mug over the years but any other stocking-filler type gifts he might like?

Exploding Kittens card game

AnotherEmma · 25/10/2020 07:38

Lots of non-girly cat socks here

Have you looked at cat characters? Pusheen is a favourite here, and when we visited the pusheen cafe there was just as many male fans in there!

Or look up kawaii and cats - lots of lovely cat themed stationary, cuddly toys and other gifts.

Funko or it might be paka paka make soda cats figures which are cute. A few different types available.

Qwertee do some great cat shirts and they are mostly all black with designs, ive bought them for my husband!

Exploding kittens game is great fun.

We are a family of cat lovers and there has been many gifts over the years that are cat themed!!

Also try places like flying tiger, poundland for little cat themed gifts or stocking fillers!

There's also a cat monopoly and depending on your sons age the cat game which is like pictionary but using cat pictures. It is rated 16, as theres more adult films (American pie etc) or actions like giving birth. I just removed the more unsuitable ones for me and dds (12 and 8) to play 😁

Paperchase have ‘festive cats’ wrap this year- I’m going to use it for my son!

There are some cute cat sticky notes on eBay (and other places) that I was going to get for his stockings.

I’ve seen cat bingo somewhere.

I’m also going to get this cat science book - www.bookdepository.com/Cats-React-Science-Facts-Izzi-Howell/9781526310538

FlosCampi · 25/10/2020 07:47

If you have access to a cat, there's a cat IQ test book that amused my son!

Saisong · 25/10/2020 07:49

My 10yo boy wanted a 'lucky' key ring for his school bag (triggered by friendship issues and he wanted as many positive vibes as possible). I found a nice happy black cat one, that was not in any way gendered, which did the job. The eBay link no longer works for the one i bought, but there are probably similar.

Another idea might be one of those Sponsor a Big Cat gifts - where they get updates and pictures, sometimes a cuddly toy.

CAT BINGO Grin

yellowsun · 25/10/2020 07:51

There are also some nice cat face bath bombs on Etsy

Saisong · 25/10/2020 07:55

Also he might like The Oatmeal's take on cats here
They have a whole book on the subject (look on their books page) which I was given for Xmas. It's a bit inappropriate in places, but my boy found it completely hilarious and still gets it out for a chuckle now and again.

Saisong · 25/10/2020 07:59

Has he come across the Simon's Cat cartoons? You can watch them on YouTube, we love them. I think you can get merchandise.

Jayneisagirlsname · 25/10/2020 08:00

How about the Warrior Cats books if he's not read them? There's merchandise to go with them as well.

Saisong · 25/10/2020 08:03

Some great ideas ideas here if you ignore the earrings etc. I particularly like the cats bum pencil sharpener, which would definately appeal to a 10yo.

Can you tell I'm overinvested (I love finding great stocking fillers!)

InTheLongGrass · 25/10/2020 08:03

Has he ever read the warrior cat books? My 9 year old has finally started choosing to read over lockdown, and I've just bought the third box set for him. My 11 yr old lives them too.

We've also knitted this cat.

Otherwise hanging round for ideas!

yellowsun · 25/10/2020 08:04

This looks fun
Spin Master Games The Cat Game www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D972XN9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xftLFbAMK3QAR?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

MrsWonderland · 25/10/2020 08:22

Ah you amazing people. I knew you'd come good. He's sadly not into the Warrior Cat books (although has read all the other cat fiction he can find). He will love the cat bum sharpener! Cat bath bombs are great and I've been looking at Exploding Kittens for years - maybe this is the year to commit (I always thought the idea that they explode would put him off). Cat Bingo also sounds like a winner - and funnily enough I'd already bought the cat IQ book. Thank you all!

I second Simon's Cat Merch.

truthlemon · 25/10/2020 09:06

We have the hairy cat game yellowsun linked too. It's fun!

We also have [[https://direct.asda.com/george/home/bedding/duvet-covers/multi-halloween-cats-reversible-duvet-set/GEM781702,default,pd.html?cgid=D26M04G04C02]] Halloween cat duvet cover from ASDA. It's not Halloweeny really just a bunch of cats and not at all pink and glittery.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 25/10/2020 09:27

Theres also a cat bum colouring book my dds loved it and thought it was hilarious 😂

margaritasbythesea · 25/10/2020 09:35

There are lots of cat paw fluffy socks on ebay for about £3.

everythingisginandroses · 25/10/2020 15:39

Has he got any of the A Street Cat Named Bob books? There is a Christmassy one: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/A-Gift-from-Bob-by-James-Bowen-author/9781250104960 My DS was ok with it at that age, but if you feel the themes are too grown-up for a 10-year-old I would understand.

Cats Protection have a Christmas shop with some nice stocking fillers.

MrsMigginsPie · 25/10/2020 15:47

Cat pencil sharpener (stick pencil in cats bottom and it mews) www.theunusualgiftcompany.com/dog-and-cat-pencil-sharpeners/

I’ve bought both of those presents previously from Amazon (but couldn’t link to them on Amazon app)

torthecatlady · 25/10/2020 15:50

How about the books by Dermot O'Leary. The main character is based on his own pet cat!
