Is it too early to feel a traditional cold surge of fear and dread?

Or is that just me?

No. A normal response if you ask me. All these Christmas threads are making it worse.

mrsmerton · 14/10/2007 17:44

No, I felt a shiver up my spine a couple of weeks ago. Christmas I love, it s the family politics I can't stand. Just want to bury my head in the sand with the vain hope of offending NO-ONE.

snowleopard · 14/10/2007 17:46

It's funny I feel both - a tingly happy christmassy feeling that is to do with christmas lights and making mince pies and getting decorations at the christmas market... and a cold surge of fear and dread that is to do with relatives

snowleopard · 14/10/2007 17:46

snap mrs m!

PeachesMcLean · 14/10/2007 17:48

NO! Too early for Christmas lights and mince pies. We haven't had Halloween yet fgs.

TinyGang · 14/10/2007 17:48

'Is it too early to feel a traditional cold surge of fear and dread?' No, it's traditional

motherinferior · 14/10/2007 17:48

The whole prospect is just filling me with absolute horror. And DP is saying pathetic things about Their Happy Smiling Faces. Pah.

Ooooh no I like the warm tingly feeling to start early and develop slowly, until by mid-december it is a raging force that I rely on to blot out my relatives angst.

NappiesLaGore · 14/10/2007 17:53

nope.
feel sure i should love it...
feel nothing so much as resentment at the bloody thought of it for last few years.
i mean, do we HAVE to???

bah smeggin humbug

i'm looking forward to it, dd will be 2 just before so this will be the first time she 'gets it'. [lamb to slaughter icon]

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 14/10/2007 18:47

I LOVE christmas, and can't wait, my xmas tree and decorations go up on the first of december (DS's bday 29th dec, so we 'end' xmas on Boxing Night)

BUT having said that, it get really annoyed with everything being about christmas already. I have halloween, bonfire night, MIL's and DD's birthdays first!

muppetgirl · 14/10/2007 18:55

I am looking forward to it this year. We aren't travelling ANYWHERE! Our ds 1 will be 3.8 so he is already looking forward to it and we will have ds 2 (yet to be born I'm 37 weeks atm) we won't have pil/sil's/ my dad and it will be bliss to be left alone to do what WE WANT TO DO.

Hey, we may just stay in out pj's all day....

collision · 14/10/2007 18:59

Dont do Christmas then!!

We dont and it is great! In fact, DH is working on Xmas Day and we will have a pyjama day and eat snacks and watch lots of telly.

We do presents at other times and we are able to avoid the whole commercial crapness of christmas.

muppetgirl · 14/10/2007 19:04

I agree collision!

We are doing it our way this year and not travelling around the country seeing relatives and cramming ourselves into one bedroom and not sleeping for days....to come home knackered and then dh has to go back to work.

A few pressies for ds 1 a pressie each for dh + me and a couple of pressies for ds 2.

A gorgeous roast cooked by dh (he's fab) maybe a walk with the dogs, telly then bed.

Sounds heaven to me....

andiem · 14/10/2007 19:13

I love christmas but the relly thing does my head in. so now we either stay at our house and people come to us or we go on holiday ds2 will be 6 months so we are staying at home this year

I love all the baking and cooking

Bumperlicious · 14/10/2007 19:20

sorry quick hijack andiem have you abandoned us on post natal?!

collision · 14/10/2007 21:19

bump!

DottydotsofBloodOnTheFloor · 14/10/2007 21:21

me too... Mainly because of how much it's going to cost us - we tend to do Christmas on the cheap but because it's ds1's birthday on December 7th, it's just a bloody expensive month.
