Christmas catalogues anyone?

I'm not taking about the ones you pay into throughout the year. As a child my mum always used to receive small catalogues of a random looking selection of cute little gifts. I remember getting my mum a little glass vase in a frame that you hang from a window. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I remember the ace catalogue and always loved the crackers page. They had these crackers which seemed amazing like forever friends which came with ornaments.

I remember the Webb Ivory catalogue we used to get through school! I think these days, most of its online or via catalogues free with the Sunday paper!

I love Christmas catalogues! Museum Selection do a nice one.

everythingisginandroses · 25/10/2020 16:04

Gosh, @Twisique, there are some lovely things on the Museum Selection site! I need to stop shopping, but maybe not just yet...Xmas Blush

Some cute stuff there thank you @Twisique. I called my mum and she couldn't remember the names of the catalogues, I guess the companies have gone bust and long gone now. It's just a bit of a shame 'cos I dislike scrolling endlessly!

Yep Studio Cards and Webb Ivory! We used to bring them home from school and possibly Brownies. My mum always used to let me order the little mini cards that you had to fold up yourself.
I remember getting ribbons and bows from there too. I used to be so excited when those came home!

I adored webb ivory, I had completely forgotten what it was called till it was mentioned above. I used to make up orders and add it all up like I could afford it, must have been about 12 at the time!

RunningFromWaterGhoul · 25/10/2020 21:11

There was one full of random gadget-type crap as well - think it was called Innovations.

inappropriateraspberry · 25/10/2020 21:59

I agree, it's so much easier to look through a catalogue than scroll down.

I think my mum organised the Webb Ivory orders for our school (she worked there). I have a vague memory of helping her sort the orders out and admiring the different cards and wrapping paper people were getting!

Twisique · 26/10/2020 14:36

You sometimes get them with the weekend papers.

Cox and Cox do a nice one with decorations and lights.

Anyone know of any others?

inappropriateraspberry · 26/10/2020 16:03

I actually had a random one through the post the other day from Scotts of Stow - Gift Discoveries. No idea why they sent it to me, but was nice looking at all the tat in it! A couple of nice things, mostly good for grandparents and older in-laws!

Ah yes now that's the kind of tat i'm looking for. I love these catalogues where you can have a scarf next to a 5ft bamboo tree next to an ipad resting cushion. Grin Grin Grin

Innovations was brilliant. We used to cut out its product descriptions and stick them under pictures of celebrities "You'll wonder how you ever survived before this came along! Its fanless technology silently draws in fresh air along with freshening negative ions." under a picture of Glenn Medeiros. You had to make your own entertainment in the 80s. [also, if my lovely friend is reading this she will know who I am - waves]

For the person who has everything!

waltzingparrot · 26/10/2020 22:32

I like the CultureVulture catalogue. Actually has some quite nice stuff in it that would make useful presents.

everythingisginandroses · 26/10/2020 23:28

@waltzingparrot - I like that one too, was trying to remember whether it was really called Culture Vulture! Thanks Xmas Smile
