This year I'm attempting an advent tree with DD, a little tree of her own and 24 small baubles, she gets to pick one each day, cute & sustainable ❤️

My mum generously shared some of her small decorations and one super special one which was my grandmas. Then the f*%£ing cat knocked the box off the table and you can guess which one shattered 😭

Now I'm done sobbing can someone help me source a replacement so lovely DM never needs to know.

There seem to be quite a few job lots of vintage glass baubles on Ebay in that concave style. might involve a bit of trawling through to find the exact one. Good luck!

There's also a good selection on Etsy - getting quite distracted myself now I've started looking...

How close a match do we think this one is? DM gave me the decs a few months ago now and I hope won't inspect the advent tree too closely.

Could I get away with it?! 😬

I remember that style - my grandma had lots of them.

Honestly, I doubt you'll get away with it as the original bauble will have acquired recognisable dints & tarnished bits over the years.

I'd buy a similar one, cross fingers & hope for not too close scrutiny but be prepared to own up 😕.

I lost a treasured family silver rattle years ago - it was a couple of inches high, a silver doll attached to a stick to rattle it with, & had been a christening gift to a great uncle, then passed to dm via my grandmother, before dm passed it down to me when I took a fancy to it as a teenage goth.

It was stolen from my room in a shared house (long story).

I was gutted & felt so guilty! Mum was fine about it 'it's only a thing, not a person' but I felt absolutely awful.

So I do get where you're coming from, but it isn't your fault & it'll be fine x

These are the closest I can find on first look. They're called reflex baubles. You'll have to trawl the vintage sites...

Thank you but €105 😲

The originals were probably from Woolies 😖

If you have no luck online check charity shops, they usually have big containers of loose baubles and there's the old style ones like that in there pretty often
