My daughter has asked for a camera since before last Christmas.

I was reluctant to buy her one as I thought they were plastics tat. But she's since asked for her birthday in August and now again for this Christmas

What are your recommendations for best camera for a 6 year old ?

I quite like the look of the instant ones that print out but the film is so expensive

What about the VTech Kidizoom camera, its more child friendly in my opinion and you can play games on it, add filters to photos etc.
I bought one for my partners daughter and she loved it. She was 7.
The instax ones are good but like you say the film is expensive so I wouldn't get one of them if I was you, especially for a 6 year old.

We bought our kids kidizoom cameras just before two consecutive big holidays... it was ok. Was most handy for underwater filming whilst snorkelling, but to be honest, and you may not like my answer much, but I would rather get her a phone with a decent camera, we went with iPhones in the end. The photos and videos are so much better in quality and editing potential, also can whatsapp them to grandparents and other relatives (mostly abroad) instantly. Loads of other advantages with a smartphone too which I won’t bother you with unless you would like to know. I appreciate at 6 she may be a bit young but you don’t have to have a sim in there, then she can only use it at home or where she can access wifi.

I'd look at an adult camera for a 6yo.

I was toying between kidizoom and a Nikon W150 for my 4yo. The Nikon is very easy to use but not cheap, my older son has an earlier version that I got in a sale. My SIL put me off the kidizoom because of the size of it, too big and bulky to take out.

I also think kidizoom would be quite babyish for a 6yo.

My old boy was 5 when he got his Nikon. And my youngest keeps nicking my camera hence need for one of his own.

Thanks really appreciate the comments.

I like the look of kiddie zoom but agree it looks quite babyish

Will look at proper cameras
