Does anyone have any great gifts I can consider for my big loving DD who is always finding spiders/worms/random bugs to carry around and stroke....?

(Other than actual spiders/worms/bugs.....I am not an animal lover....)

Has she had a butterfly kit? I’m not sure if it’s the season for them now, might be an IOU but you can get a kit where you grow caterpillars into butterflies in a house.

This: www.insectlore.co.uk/

The website might have other ideas....

Also, not really a present unless there are items linked to it, but she might like CBeebies Mini Beast Adventures with Jess.

An ant farm?

SpeedofaSloth · 18/10/2020 20:36

How about an aquarium? Over the years we have kept shrimp and snails as well as little fish.

Helpel · 18/10/2020 20:39

Jelly cat do all sorts of insect and bug cuddly toys. We bought our daughter a jelly cat snail for her 5th birthday because she loved keeping the real thing in Tupperware!!

Oysterbabe · 18/10/2020 20:39

These bug stamps are really nice. It has the legs and antenna etc separately so you can create your own bugs.

Would a jellycat soft toy be any good? They even do bugs, soft, cuddly bugs as well as animals.

They are not the cheapest but are very loved in our house by all children.

Bug catcher kit like a pooter or box with magnifier? Nice factual books? Bug hotel for the garden she can fill/paint (if you have a garden)?

Hophop26 · 18/10/2020 21:22

Really rate this big hotel book - www.amazon.co.uk/Hotel-Clover-Robin-Book-Nature/dp/1848576579?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 - have gifted it several times now with different big hotels and been well received

Microscope and slides of bugs

Leeds2 · 18/10/2020 22:15

Pyjamas, or a t-shirt, with bugs on them.
A magnifying glass for her stocking.
Bug stickers.

Monsterjam · 18/10/2020 22:22

Oh sorry I did a long link. It’s a bug catcher with magnifying chambers... we take ours out ALOT!

FelicityBeedle · 18/10/2020 22:31

Sea monkeys or triops?

Imsayingnothing · 18/10/2020 23:42

I've got one of these for my daughter's stocking as she is obsessed with snails.

My DD is also animal mad and has asked for this. It ‘sucks’ the bottle.

My DD loves the Bug Bingo board game. It is a big, substantial box, with sturdy boards etc, feels nice for a gift.
