Gift ideas for 11 year old girl (who thinks she’s 16)

Hi ladies,
I’m really struggling for ideas for my daughter. I think she would like the new iPhone but I’m not too sure because she’s already got the XR at the moment. I’m not too sure about the difference between the two other than the better camera and the charger? She absolutely loves friends and make up so I’ve bought her the friends monopoly and the friends revolution make up bits. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If she likes Friends then you can also get the Trivia game and the dots, lines and spirals colouring book. Plus any number of T shirt/PJs/hoodies!

I can't imagine getting an 11 year old the latest iPhone, but you might move in different circles to me!

My daughter is 13 next week and she has asked for some clothes from new look, some sports clothes, lots of art bits, stuff for felting and sewing as she loves doing that, make up, an art easel. Stationary, clay, stuff for baking as she loves making cakes. Shea getting the Nadyia bakes book too although she didnt ask for that but will like it. Some clay. She isnt getting all those but some is ideas for Christmas too.

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 10:15

Unfortunately majority of her friends are the same and have the latest things. I’ll have a look at the colouring book you mentioned that sounds good. Thank you.

Sorry said clay twice. No interest in new phones here. We are also doing her a box of cooking ingredients and stuff for cake decorating, that is all specific to her interests I know but might help.

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 10:19

I wish my daughter was the same the only thing she’s interested in is make up, writing, reading and YouTube. My 4 year old is much easier.

Can you get books then? Mine's a big reader but find this a difficult age with books. Some nice notepads and pens for writing? My daughter is apparently writing a novel and got a big lockable box to keep her ideas in that she decorated and keeps her writing stuff in.

Although she isnt fussed on her phone or online shes a total telly addict!

RedskyAtnight · 16/10/2020 10:32

If she likes writing would she like a bullet journal/highlighters/posh pens? My DD is older (and also into art) but she spends ages working on hers.

Redwrecker · 16/10/2020 12:20

What about books? Bought the 12 year old in my family the Malorie Blackman Noughts and Cross quadrilogy this year.

Nosuchthingastoomichcheese · 16/10/2020 12:28

Redwrecker my daughter read those (recommended by her teacher so I didn't check if it was suitable) and its got rape scenes in it! Wish I'd checked!

callmeearly · 16/10/2020 12:30

My experience would be they stop reading soon after 11 when it's no longer cool. Buy as many books as you can while she's still reading.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 16/10/2020 12:41

That's sad. My daughter still loves reading but I know many of her friends dont.

JellyBelly78 · 16/10/2020 12:45

How about a calligraphy book and pens, Bluetooth headphones, room accessories, jewellery, skin care book, bag, hamper of favourite snacks, lush bath bombs, lip scrub etc, instax camera, roller skates, smoothie maker, waffle maker, pancake maker.
My daughter loved Hunger games and Percy Jackson books at that age.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 16/10/2020 12:48

Has she got a kindle already - tech & books?

@callmeearly oh what a shame. I hope not! My DD is such a book worm I'm sure she'll still be reading behind closed doors.

Personally I wouldn't buy a new Iphone as think it costs too much and I would be worried about them losing or damaging it. She also has a working up to date phone so I wouldn't be keen to replace it with the latest model as it's not really sustainable living.

How about a new bike?
skateboard / blades are popular at this age?
Alexa / echo dot?
Branded sports wear / bag - adidas / vans etc

Imonlydoingwhatican · 16/10/2020 12:50

James charles make up
Jeffree star palates
Hype clothes
Addias or nike clothes
Perfume
Hoodies
Nail stuff
Hairdyer
Phone case and the holder thing on back
Oddie
Scented squigies

All things my same like minded 11 yr old has asked for

JellyBelly78 · 16/10/2020 13:00

A very useful gift has proven to be a manfrotto mini tripod stand for your phone, loads of different makes but this one works very well for us.
She uses this daily when FaceTiming her friends. Saves having to prop your phone on something. I had to buy the smartphone clamp with it too.

We all made use of it for calls during lockdown. A practical and useful gift for her phone.

LucyCharlotteP · 16/10/2020 13:06

She’s asked for a Oodie and jewellery, perfume. She’s already got Alexa, AirPods, iPad, computer. It’s a tricky age.

My dd is 16 and doesn’t have the latest iPhone, neither does any of her friends, she has a old iPhone 6. She can buy a expensive phone when she gets a job 🤣

Londoncatshed · 16/10/2020 13:43

I would second a kindle. It’s a good way of encouraging them to still read. My DC love theirs and as they have got older even read books for school on it etc. Good for holidays too.
What about a rucksack for sleepovers. A crossbody bag or a crossbody phone case. Urban outfitters are worth a look.
A throw for her bed, new lamp, pin board etc.
New towels, dressing gown, hair turban, face masks, hair dryer.
Trying to think of practical stuff that my DC actually used!
Stationary (anything in rose gold).

Bunnymumy · 16/10/2020 13:47

A 'creative writing for dummies' book. Or similar one from that series.

christinarossetti19 · 16/10/2020 13:48

Londoncatshed ha! My dd is a massive fan of rose gold stationary. She thinks it's hugely classy.

Her main present when she was 11 was some floor cushions for her room and a onesie - I definitely move in different circles to posters on this thread!

Those beautiful but hugely pricey EOS lip balms seem to be very popular with girls this age.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 16/10/2020 13:50

I forgot onesie. Mine has a zebra one with a hood for her 13th. She picked it.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 16/10/2020 13:52

One of those ring lights they're all going nuts for.

A sketch pad that plugs into her ipad. Can do all sorts with those

JuliaJohnston · 16/10/2020 13:53

Why are you trying to push a new, expensive iPhone on an 11 year old because you think she would like it?
Very strange op.

Londoncatshed · 16/10/2020 13:54

@christinarossetti19 snap. My DDs also had a selection of lip balms that were never really used and if they came with a rose gold lip, well all the better.
Ted Baker has lots of body sprays, lip balms etc that appeal to tweens as does Victoria secret.

RedskyAtnight · 16/10/2020 13:58

So if you get her an Oodie, jewellery, perfume plus the bits you've already got - that's surely enough (plus whatever you put in a stocking if you do stockings)? No point spending loads just for the sake of it.
