Made DD's Xmas list but it needs refined massively!

Before I start; I am not buying everything on this list. Over the year, I have noted things either DD has expressed interest in or I think she will like. Obviously it's far too much and I'll get her 3 or 4(and keep a few ideas in case family ask for ideas). If people could tell me which ones they think is best or if their DC have any listed that they love/don't use, then that'd help greatly too.

DD's 'list' (in no order):

She will be getting a plate set and cutlery set, puzzles, some craft bits and books, this would be her main 'toy' gifts. If people could recommend 3 or 4 then I'd really appreciate it

I just got my three year olds some sylvanian families stuff and they’re loving it. So much imaginative play!

I think I’d do with the Barbie, sylvanian families type stuff over Peppa pig, little people, etc as she’s at the beginning of the age range for them so they’ll hopefully be played with for a while.

My DD is 4 in January so only a little older and her obsession is Barbie so that's what we're getting her. She plays with Chelsea at nursery but at home she wants Barbie. She also loves mega bloks (as she can build things for the dolls) and Busy Books - her current favourite is Paw Patrol

Sylvanian families will grow with her, so that for sure. My 8.5 year old still plays with sylvanians. As well as that, I would go dinosaurs (Schleich or Papo do some lovely realistic ones which will last and again, grow well with her.) I would also go with the Chelsea playset and paw patrol. And add the Play doh as well as its great for helping with fine motor skills and preparing to learn to write.

I wouldn’t get the ‘little people’ or ‘George pig’ toys because they will be outgrown very quickly. Everything else sounds great, I’d get dinosaur figures, cabbage patch doll and both sylvanian family sets. That was it’s a mix of toys rather than all dolls or all cuddly toys. My boys love dinosaur figures because they can go in that bath/sandpit/ slime etc. Without getting ruined.

Also bear in mind what you want to play with! My DD will play independently sometimes but still wants playing with a lot so I choose toys I fancy having a go with too!

I’d go sylvanians, play doh, dinosaurs as all encourage more open ended play

Maybe try making your own play doh or slime at home, there's loads of guides online and you'll save money. Can also get your daughter involved in making it for some messy playtime

Unless she's got her heart set on a Kindi Kid, I wouldn't bother! Ours hasn't seen the light of day since Boxing Day 2019!

Is Sylvanian Families really worth the money as the tree house is £50?

@valentinoandme not specifically Kindi Kids but I think she really wants a doll bigger than a Barbie kind of doll

I would say from experience 3.5 is too young for Sylvanian families.

Sylvanians are great. My 4yr old plays for hours and hours with hers. Loads come up on Facebook marketplace if you look.

I would get a Sylvanian families property as it’s a good age to start playing with them and something you can add to at birthdays/Christmas if she enjoys it. It’s likely there will be a discount on the Tree House at some point before Christmas.

Would be my primary picks.

DD6 has played solidly with Sylvanians,LOL Dolls and dolls since she was 4. Everything else has fallen by the wayside.

I have a 4 year old and would definitely go with the sylvanians

Then I'd go with Playdough, dinosaur figures and a cabbage patch doll. Seems a nice assortment. I'd personally add a book with or 2 and a sticker book

I'd avoid lol at 3.5

At 3.5 slyvannians never got played with despite both dds loving small world play.

I would go Chelsea playset - if you haven't chosen the camper is great.

Dinosaur figures.

Disney figures if shes really into them.

The larger doll - how about a disney animator? They are beautiful and similar to kindi kids in size. (They also do small playsets which my dds loved)

Then as stocking gift maybe an apron and playdough/slime recipe cards.

And just another thought my dds loved my busy books at that age. They are a book with 10/12 figures and playmat. We had allsorts of films/characters. They are perfect for the bath too as they are solid so no mould!! Around £5-6 in supermarkets or tkmaxx. (Still got used at aged 10 and 8!)

Yes but you can often get it cheaper it has real longevity

I personally would say that Sylvanian families are for slightly older children. We got a few bits for our then 3.5 year old last year. I was so excited. She has never ever touched it so we have put it in the attic (she’s not even noticed!)

I’m going to say the Melissa and Doug ice cream shop. It’s about £38 and both our 1 year old and 4 year old play with it daily (and so do I, shhhh.....)

Have you thought about playmobil? My kids were obsessed with it from age 2.

Also if you want a book -“You Choose” was a massive hit ( so much so that we bought it twice as the first copy got wrecked)

My daughter just turned 4 recently and I had got her some Sylvanian families stuff, it has sat in the cupboard since, she not interested. However will happily play with her brothers Playmobil for hours!

Play dog has been a hit with all my children around that age, but the only thing is if left uncovered, as you will know, it goes hard. I've got my 4 year old some plasticine this time for her stocking as I know if she leaves it out then it won't be unusable.

I agree with others as well that schleich figures would be great, and you can get play mats to go with them.

Also if looking for a doll, would she be interested in a baby doll, like the baby Annabelle type ones but could be Argos or Tesco own make. If not then cabbage patch will be good too.
