Ideas for 11 year old DD

Have ordered some Funko pops and lots of art things. Will get chocolate, PJs, bits of clothing.
Beyond that I am stuck. She’s not into make up/products at all, she’s quite alternative and likes Japanese stuff.
Was thinking of some colour changing lights for her room.
Any other good ideas?

A grow your own Bonsai kit? That's Japanese.

DarrellRiversTuckBox · 08/10/2020 14:25

Watching with interest Smile

11 y.o. DD has asked for an 'oodie' which I believe is a super-baggy hoody, without a hood?!

She had a birthday recently and had an American sweet hamper which she loved.

I'm planning on getting a 'holder' thing for her bike so she can record with her phone when she cycles? She has also asked for a light projector for her room which I think makes the ceiling look like the Milky Way.

Other than that I'm stumped. Have you looked at those Japanese sweet kits?

Sewsosew · 08/10/2020 14:35

She has food allergies so can’t order foreign sweets unfortunately.
The oodie sounds good!

I bought my DD that age Korean / Japanese stuff like washi tape, Kawaii items and wierd small squidgy rubber animals, and a kawaii animal sandwich making kit which she loved and you can buy online but she saw it when we went to Comi con in London with her older DS one year.

Oh that’s a great and VERY pink site 🤪

DD1 has asked for lots of Totoro stuff. I found some great pictures on Etsy, also rather randomly a rolling pin.

She also wants a proper (SLR) camera, we're well supplied with Instax already but they are very popular with her friends.

Wreck this journal

We bought this for my niece last year, she and the DDs had so much fun with it, it was a fantastic gift. If I say so myself Smile.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 08/10/2020 18:28

I bought a Japanese sweet box from Amazon, it was well worth it, came packaged in a cardboard box wrapped in a piece of Japanese newspaper which Dd found intriguing, some of the sweets weren't to our liking but exploring them and trying to work out what they were was fun.
Also Kracie fun cooking sets are always a winner too.

Dd has recently had her 11th birthday and I bought her some logic games which she likes, IQ puzzler, cat crimes (there is a dog version too) and gravity maze all from Amazon.

Swatsup · 08/10/2020 18:30

Calligraphy pens? Possibly Japanese calligraphy set?

OohKittens · 08/10/2020 19:21

Artbox is another brilliant site. They also have a shop in covent garden.

Sewsosew · 08/10/2020 19:55

I’d love to go to that Covent Garden shop (if we weren’t 300 miles away 😥)

Has she got a How to draw Manga characters book?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/10/2020 13:25

@DarrellRiversTuckBox just so you know, the oodie has a huge hood! It's a fleecy blanket with arms & a hood on it. My DD would love one, she's 10 and small-ish for her age and the actual branded Oodie would be far too big for her. I see that Next have one coming later this month so I might order that one for her (and it's a lot cheaper than the branded one!!)

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/10/2020 13:56

@LifeInAHamsterWheel I'm loving the sound of the oodie

OP Amazon have the kawaii animal Squishies - you get quite a lot in a set - they're about the approx length of your thumb.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/10/2020 14:37

Me too @FlyingByTheSeatof - might end up with one on my own Christmas list Grin

Sewsosew · 09/10/2020 15:13

@ravensoaponarope yes, for the specific anime series she watches too (pleased when i found that!).
I ordered some small badges as well this morning.

I hate the fact everything is so small 😂

@LifeInAHamsterWheel Do you have a link for the Next one please? I don’t see it on the site.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/10/2020 16:30

That's so strange, on the UK site it's only showing the adult version (which is one size) but the Irish site has a child's version with lots of sizes though it's not available until next month. here's a link to the child one on the Irish site.
