Is anyone going to Lapland this year? (Either U.K. or Finland).

Just that, I am considering U.K. this year but not sure if it's worth it?

I’ve just cancelled our Lapland UK booking, as I don’t want to compromise on having fun, like making sure we wear masks or stand on a special marking on the floor etc. I think it detracts from the magic. Will book again next year...when hopefully life resumes as normal.

They gave me a refund straightaway. I’m really impressed with their customer service, as they obviously prioritise making sure their customers are happy

Thanks for the reply. I think you're right and the magic would be taken away in lots of ways :(
So disappointing as I would have liked to go this year!

We're booked for LaplandUK. We've been back and forth on it for the last few weeks but we have decided to keep our booking. After a chat with someone on their social media team it really does sound like they are trying their best to keep it magical while following the guidelines. Our eldest daughter (almost 8) has had a really tough year and with almost everything else cancelled we thought this would be a chance to keep a little light going in the darkness for her. Our youngest (almost 5) will just go with the flow and will probably be relieved she doesn't have to get close to anyone else anyway. Grin It sounds like all the usual bits are running and they have just rebuilt so that you move through and sit in family bubbles, which honestly sounds quite nice anyway. We'll see, hopefully we've not made a terrible mistake!

I thought Finland wasn't letting UK holidayers in / requiring them to quarantine on arrival? I'm booked for February (booked pre Covid) but was thinking I don't stand a chance of it going ahead.

Horsemad · 05/10/2020 13:09

Save your money and go to Finland next year.❄️☃️🎄🎅🦌🛷🎁

Nearlyadoctor · 05/10/2020 14:29

@Sausagis - we’re in the same boat as you, booked to go skiing in Levi Feb half term, can’t see it happening.

Nearlyadoctor · 05/10/2020 14:30

We postponed from this year as things were ‘hotting up’ at the time. Never thought for one minute we wouldn’t get to go next year.

Nochangeplease · 05/10/2020 21:31

I’ve just booked Lapland uk on an impulse and now not sure. I paid extra for some sort
Of refund assurance. Do you
Think if I email they’ll refund straight away pp? I was on my
Lunch break and really didn’t have time to think it through and tickets were selling out.

MonaChopsis · 06/10/2020 12:36

I'm going to Lapland UK and am really excited. First time for us so won't be 'comparing' with previous years without masks etc, and it sounds like they are really on top of their risk management.

So many things have been cancelled for DD this year, it's nice to have something that will still be going ahead!

daretodenim · 06/10/2020 13:38

We were planning on Finnish Lapland (been before) in Feb but not booked yet. Finland has been quite strict. Maybe as a last minute if things change.

AriettyHomily · 06/10/2020 13:58

No. Masks, SD. Not fun. Next year 🤞

CatsTheWayToDoIt · 06/10/2020 20:51

We just booked for this year, I am so excited to have something fun to look forward to. I think a lot of the usual Christmas celebrations won't be happening, but fingers crossed this goes ahead. Sadly, I don't that 'next year' will be any different re masks and social distancing.

isthistoonosy · 06/10/2020 21:25

We did finish lapland last yr pre covid and it was pretty shit tbh. I'd not bother even in normal times.

AutumnleavesturntoGold · 06/10/2020 22:09

Hold on, who said people will have to stand on x, s.

??

They are a theatre company and build their own sets. Families will be in their own bubbles...

I can't see it will be much different tbh.

cactusdog · 07/10/2020 15:20

@isthistoonosy oh no really? What was crap about it?
Was going to maybe book for next year as PP suggested.
