How to make garden christmasy

My partner has completely re-done our garden during lockdown and we now have a useable garden and summer house. Given that we're likely to be in most of the festive period I'm looking to decorate the garden as a surprise for my DDs.

Has anyone got any creative ideas other than lights please? Thank you!

Giant candy canes, lollipops and baubles - there are quite a lot of YouTube videos which can give you inspiration (I really should get out more ...)

doodlejump1980 oh that is amazing, thank you!

@doodlejump1980 if I hadn't just spent the day cutting down all the unwanted plants in the garden and consequently hadn't promised DH that I will never, ever, ever plant anything ever again that can't be controlled with a lawnmower, I would be off down the garden centre to buy conifers right now!

I think if I had a summer house, I’d go Santa’s grotto in there - pretend fire, cosy blankets, rugs and cushions, a wee tree, fake snow sheet things, fairy lights etc.

I'm currently assembling the materials to make those gnomes - we have loads of conifers out the front Grin

I am planning to do the same. We have a covered area with a grape vine where we sit in the summer. When all the leaves have come down, I intend to wind loads of fairy lights round the branches. I also have a spare thin Christmas tree which I am going to put up, one of the pictures with sparkly lights and a snow blanket which I am going to put round the tree with some straw donkeys and other assorted winter animals which I don't mind if they are ruined because I will probably chuck them out anyway!

I've also bought a fire pit - we tried it last weekend and it was not a great success as it produced loads of smoke and no flame! I saw an idea this week where they have put some logs into the fire pit with some twinkly red lights underneath which looked very effective. We also have a patio heater.

Can't wait to decorate it!

Ooh, our summer house is empty and will be going next year. I could grotto it up and go crazy! 😆
