Funny books for 7yo

DD has been a bit of a reluctant reader, but has gone crazy for the 13-story treehouse series. She really loves the silly humour And having lots of pictures helps! She can manage a bit more text, so long as it isn't too dense: eg she enjoyed Hotel Flamingo, but she did need more encouragement to read it by herself, and I'm keen to help her gain confidence by giving her books she finds easy and enjoys.

She and DH have also just finished the 3 Mr Penguin books as bedtime stories, and they are both bereft! I think it's again the silly humour that appeals.

Are there any other similar silly/funny books you can recommend? Both simple ones which she can read herself like 13 story treehouse, and more complex ones we can read to her.

Take a look at Ursula Vernons Hamster Princess series, also her Dragonbreath series. Both of mine enjoyed these a few years back. They found them very funny and iirc there were plenty of pictures.

Dogman, The Bad Guys and Captain Underpants are all funny.

Maybe a comic subscription - Beano or Phenoix?

The Laugh Your Socks Off series of books by Jeremy Strong are great for that age. I’m Telling You They’re Aliens, The 100 Mile An Hour Dog, My Brother’s Famous Bottom etc etc

I'd heard of captain underpants, but somehow had it mixed up in my head with Aliens love underpants (!) and I hadn't heard of any of the others, so that's loads of great books to try. Jeremy Strong looks particularly like it will appeal. DD finds bottoms hilarious

Amazing idea to get a comic too - thanks @Digestive ! I've been vaguely planning to start a science one for a while, but thinking about it we already do lots of sciencey things with her since that's our background (both DH and me) whereas she would love the phoenix, and it would really be her own thing. Will suggest to grandparents for Christmas

Our 2 children absolutely loved the Mr Gum series by Andy Stanton. They devoured them & have been reread several times.

The secret diary of pig series. They are funny but with a message too. I read them to my year 2 classes.

My two are now 10 and 11 and still read the beano and phoenix every week and have done since about that age!

Depending on reading level, they might be a bit simple, but my 7yo likes reading the Claude books to herself in bed. By Alex Smith, the Mr Penguin author.

My 8 year old boy and 5 year old girl both love Dog Man. It's funny and also really sweet at times too - especially from book 3 onwards.

Adventure duck has had both me and ds in stitches

My 8 and 9 Yr old both love Tom Gates.
Wigglesbottom Primary are really good too.

Has she tried the Daisy series? I can't remember when dd1 started reading them. Dd2 is reading them now aged 6 but she is a very keen reader and if course has access to them due to being 2nd child!
