I thought I'd make a thread to help me and other people :) I think things might be the first Christmas we are not going to my parents and I wanted to get things for my 4 year old to do over the holidays as well as on the day.

Please share ideas of any festive or just fun craft ideas we can do or what you do :)

I was going to get a few of the galt craft sets like the 'my first pottery' etc. Also hobby craft have a lot for really cheap like make your own decorations so I'll definitely be getting some of those.

Salt dough tree decs. You just need some cookie cutters in Christmas shapes, the salt and flour for the dough and paint (gold works particularly well)

Baker ross and the works have good craft sets in. Including make your own cards.
Last year they went to a craft thing at the library and made wreaths out of paper plates with tissue paper in greens and stickers and bits to decorate.

Paper chains.
I'd spend the evening cutting strips of paper (DD did some too. Great for fine motor skill development and hand eye coordination to follow the line with scissors) and she'd loop and glue them. Think she found it very therapeutic as she'd do them for aaaages making them as long as she could.

I posted on another thread but you can buy plain cardboard Christmas decorations for Papier mache that DS and I have painted to put on the tree.

On the Christmas bargain thread there's some baking kits by bakedin which look really good.

Wrapping paper made with brown paper and potato prints.
Christmas cards - loads of ideas on Pinterest. My dc enjoyed making small hama bead pictures to glue on cards.
Cut out old Christmas cards to make christmas labels.
Make garlands with pinecone and dried orange slices.
Make paper snowflakes.
Draw a christmas scene straight on to a window with chalk pens.

We sometime get out either playmobil or lego a makr a christmas scene decoration. And we decorate the dolls house and make tiny decorations for it.
