Ideas for a 9 year old girl

I’m looking for ideas for my 9 year old dd. She is at the difficult age where she is starting to grow out of dolls and toys but isn’t yet at the teenage stage.

She loves arts and crafts, LOL, Minecraft and Roblox. She sings all the time and my mum is getting her a karaoke machine (would be grateful for any recommendations on a good make), her dad is getting her a bike.

I’m stuck for ideas, we are short on space as it’s a small house and I’ve just culled loads of toys she doesn’t play with anymore, so I don’t want something huge. She does have a lot of Sylvannian Families houses but rarely plays with them. I’ve suggested we donate/sell them and possibly get an LOL dolls house instead. Although it’s big it would take up less space than the 5 small ones we currently have!

Other than that I’m stuck, any ideas?? Help!!

I'm in the same boat, my dd turns 9 just before Christmas and she's more into Minecraft/Fortnite/YouTube. She's not interested in dolls etc anymore but still has a slight obsession with anything cat related. B&M have some Minecraft and Roblox things in, mainly figures. Game stocks some nice Minecraft gifts too but they're a bit pricier. Last year we got DD the Minecraft cat plush and it's been her favourite since then. A few years ago my parents got her an old desk to do her crafty stuff at, it's like the old school desks where the lid lifted up and they filled it with pens, paper, stickers, washi tape etc. If you're short on space it solves double duty as storage as well as somewhere to sit

Actually thinking about it b&m had Minecraft mugs and water bottles and stuff in the Christmas aisle too

My DD is 9. I haven't the foggiest. The only thing I can think of is the Harry Potter audio books joint with her sister.

If space is tight how about a Bluetooth karaoke microphone, tons on Amazon
My daughter got one last year and loved it, can link it to your phone and the sound was good for the speaker.

Thank you! Some really useful ideas, I’ve started trawling through internet sites. So missing the Argos catalogue!

My dd is 9 in November and I've no clue. All she wants is the LOL dolls house which I am currently refusing to buy! There must be that perfect thing that a 9 year old that loves roblox and YouTube would love that isn't over priced tat 🤔

Zofloramummy · 19/09/2020 09:56

@Kez0777 if you find it let me know!!

No good suggestions but please let me join in the misery of finding something for my 8yr old DD Grin still plays with her Barbie and LOLs but hasn’t asked for any more as she’s starting to wind down the obsession. We did karaoke machine last year and was a huge hit so think that’s a great suggestion. We might do a tv for her bedroom finally or a switch, she doesn’t really have anything like that of her own

Nine is a hard age.. especially when they have an older sister.
Mine has asked for
River Island stuff (tops/bag/purse)
Chunky trainers (the Fila ones)
Ariana Grande perfume
Sport style leggings and tops
Hairdryer
A mirror for her dressing table, one with the lights round and some of those colour changing lights that go round the top of their bedroom.
Then as a complete contrast to what could be her 13 year old sisters list, hatchimals and slime making stuff Confused

My 9yo is getting

Ticket to ride board game
A small pretty suitcase for next years school residential (fingers crossed)
A telescope and a subscription to an astronomy app on her iPad alongside it
Earrings
Horrible histories box set of books
Harry Potter dressing gown and pjs

Stompythedinosaur · 19/09/2020 16:07

My 9yo dd is getting:

Hoverkart (the hoverboard is secondhand)
Harry potter lego
A turing tumble (joint with sister)
A nasa hoodie (if I can find one in her size)
Lego dots photo holder
Some books - The girl who speaks to bears and A girl called owl.
A taco blanket with a cutitos toy
A charm bracelet making set

My dd already has a skatebkard and rollerblades which get used every day, so I'd recommend those too.

Stripyfeet · 19/09/2020 20:06

Mine has asked for an lol omg doll and a couple of Harry Potter and Lego Friends Lego sets. I'll also get her a selection of books and games – she's been eyeing Harry Potter cluedo for a while.

This is a pic of the list of things we're planning to buy our daughter:

My 8 year old DD is no easy task either. She still likes soft toys so always gets those but otherwise its Dragons, Minecraft and YouTube. Obsessed with her phone so may get her a phone case (it's not got a sim, so is basically a tiny tablet Hmm )

She's not especially girly either. May get her heelys as she did want them.

Tempjob · 20/09/2020 18:15

Maybe a tv for her new room or a switch
Horse riding lessons

Zofloramummy · 20/09/2020 20:38

Im so glad to see I’m not the only one having problems with this age! Some really good suggestions. Next year I’m decorating her bedroom and buying a loft bed with a desk and futon underneath. She already has a homework desk in the dining room so the new one will be a dressing table. Next Christmas will be easier as I can get nice stuff for her room, this year though is a headache! Doesn’t help that she isn’t particularly asking for anything other than tie die slime!
