What Christmas edible/drinkable treats can I start preparing now?

I always make a Christmas cake which no bugger eats in November but fancy spreading my culinary wings this year.

Any ideas?

I recall an alcoholic type venture involving fruit, a kilner jar and vodka.......think it may be called a Rumtopf?

You can make your own gin. Buy basic vodka and add juniper berries then any other aromatics you fancy: orange peel, rosemary, black pepper, berries, vanilla pods etc. Strain it into pretty, sterilised bottles just before Christmas.

I'm going to do some mince pies, brownies and rocky road soon. Plus I grew spuds this year, so I'll part-cook and freeze though too, before they go past their best.
