What are you getting your 4 year old?

Or what does/did your 4 year old love most. My youngest is 4 Christmas week. Thinking of a Kindle Fire for Christmas as an older sibling is getting one, I held off a lot longer with the others. But regretted that slightly during lockdown. I think I might just wait until December and see if they ask for anything but would be good to hear ideas, we seem to have everything already due to older siblings.

We've bought our 4yr old grandaughter playmobil pet hotel with extra sets and some fake grass after debating for ages between that or a schleich tree house.I am keeping an eye out on the £30 Yellow construction Kinetic sand box being on offer as I've been asked to buy a gift on behalf of an uncle. If you do get the kids kindle I'd hold out for the next deal as they are always on offer and Amazon prime day is coming up soon but I wouldn't leave it to late as they are popular. I love the Yoto player it looks fab.

Same, we are going to get just 4yo DD an Amazon fire kids, hoping to get it on Black Friday sale 🤞🏻

Following with interest, as have his 4th bday between now and Xmas as well.

I was thinking something hot wheelsy

We got our then 3 year old a Kindle Fire in the black friday sales last year, definitely worth buying it then - I can't remember what the discount was but it was a good one. This year we are getting him a cheap kids watch and a v-tech kids camera.

OverTheRainbow88 · 15/09/2020 12:58

Sorry stupid question what do they do with a kindle fire?

Bikingbear · 15/09/2020 13:01

My DS2 will also be 4 Christmas week.

He keeps nicking my camera so new camera for him, I'm dithering between a kidizoom and a Nikon. If he was a year older definitely the Nikon.

He wants a new scooter which I'm ok with I don't think big brothers will be good enough to pass down.

I'm also thinking a marble run, which can be expanded giving me other ideas.

I want to steer clear of lego this year but we'll see if he asks for any as I can't cope with much more of it in my house.

Bikingbear · 15/09/2020 13:02

Oh yes a watch was on his list too.

OverTheRainbow88 · 15/09/2020 13:04

A real watch and camera?

Geez I’m starting to think my DS is super immature for his age. He still likes the press a button on a book to make a noise kind of thing 😂

The camera as I say every time I pull mine out he's off with it, giving me heart attacks, and I end up with very random shots.

The watch, he has one that's a hand me down but I'm thinking a digital one - easier to get to grips with. But he likes wearing a watch. Smile

Highly recommend the vtech kidizoom camera, most played with present from grandaughters 4th birthday, if you can buy rechargeable batteries ( otherwise you end up spending a small fortune) and memory card. Vtech kidizoom watch is one of the gifts her mum & dad have for her.

They can play educational games, flick through books, watch stuff like Hey Duggee etc, do art type things - to be honest he usually plays on it for about 15 mins a day (in the mornings while we are trying to get 5 more minutes sleep!), but it's nice to have for train journeys.

I don't think my son is particularly precocious 😂 He likes to fiddle with my Apple watch so I'd rather he had his own and let mine be!. We got him this watch www.amazon.co.uk/Anisnap-children-watches-resistant-occasion/dp/B01K4NTZFI?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 which cost £10 :)

I should add my list is a combined Birthday & Christmas list and the Grandparent will pick off it too.

I looked at the Yoto music player thing, it looks great in theory but I'm put off by the price of the software for it. But would consider something that plays standard MP3s that can be easily operated by a small child. And the software isn't dedicated to one machine.

I'm hoping to avoiding Lego and Duplo this year, 4 is not quiet out of Duplo and not quite into Lego.

So far we have puzzles, paw patrol toys and a camera (kids one off amazon), paw patrol colouring pad. Gifts from others...new super hero bedding....and i have no idea what else yet! He is fairly easy to buy for as he loves toys. He has asked for a pink drumkit too, havent looked to see if one is available yet...it would definitely need headphones 🤣
