I am starting my shopping due to restictions seeming to be coming in , he had very little for his ibrthday as we were in lockdown , I really don't want the same this year, Last Christmas was also awful due to a berevement so want to do whatever I can to make this a good one.

Any ideas , I have found a few stocking fillers but not much more

No joke I almost said 'music cds' xD

Hmm..sign up to netflix, amazon movies, youtube premium ect for him? Or a game pass for xbox/ps4 if he has those.

Hard to know about solid gifts as everything is downloaded these days.

RippleEffects · 11/09/2020 18:36

Does he have a bank account and debit card? My DS's really valued their first own accounts and debit card. Its a sort of right of passage and represents independence. A nice wallet with a debit card in and account with a bit of starter cash balance would probably go down quite well.

Mine have seperate savings accounts things like birthday checks and big sums go into that we manage together, they can spend it but we discuss big withdrawels. Their debit card accounts get £5 a week into them and I do my very best to not comment on its use Grin(they're with Barclays, as accounts are free and have a semi functional mobile ap). The accounts can't go overdrawn, we turned off contactless initially as this is the most frequent use of cards when they go missing/ get stolen.

What sort of things is he in to? Hobbies?

This made me laugh.

His bank account just converted when he was 10.. yes will do x box voucher.

He reads but difficult to know where to move on bored of David walliams- doesn't like anything with death, war ,

He loves bop it simon but has loads of versions.

We have done so many build type kuts but he never bothers reading the instructions so they never work .

He plays on his bike and scooter a lot at the moment but has bike scooter.

Doesn't look after his phone so no upgrade.

He had alexa and light bulb lady year.

missyB1 · 11/09/2020 19:05

My Ds will be getting one of those Go Pro camera things, he wants to video stuff he does on his bike and skateboard.
He also wants new headphones and some clothes.

Firepitnights · 11/09/2020 19:10

Books: my son has just got “One of us is lying” by Karen M Mcmanus which he’s really enjoying. He’s also got some similar to move on to after this one.

We’re wondering whether to get some sort of raspberry pi build your own computer so if any one has any advice about this then that would be really useful.

mosscarpet · 11/09/2020 20:36

my ds (12) is getting:

How about a voucher for an experience like Segway/Kayak/car driving?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/09/2020 07:18

Such a hard age, and tricky when so much is downloaded. Thankfully DS is after an iPad upgrade so that's what he will be getting.

Gift vouchers for stocking (Costa, Starbucks etc. if he goes to any of those places). Could put in mini gift boxes in stocking.
Swiss Army knife
Sturdy case for phone
Onesie or other lounging around the house clothes
Headphones or AirPods
Kindle with amazon vouchers to choose some books
Books - His Dark Materials, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings popular here.
Toiletries for stocking.
Cooperative board games - e.g. forbidden island.
New helmet for bike
New branded hoodie

doodlejump1980 · 12/09/2020 09:07

My 13 year old nephew has asked for one of those massively oversized hoodies that look like someone’s just put a hood on a duvet. Not going to lie, they look amazingly cozy!!

@Doodlejump I bought my 14 year ols son one last Christmas and it was one of his favourite presents. It's never off him!

Adelais · 12/09/2020 18:55

I’m struggling for my 13 year old dss too. So far I’ve got him
Superdry T-shirt
Dart Board Noticeboard for his room
Weighted blanket
Torch for his stocking

That’s it! I’ll get him some sort of board game but that’s all for ideas.

Starlightstarbright1 · 12/09/2020 21:15

I have now added a card trick pack from b&m, a fidget pen,and a banksy canvas- it is starting to come together.

@Adelais - my son loves his weightef blanket.

everythingisginandroses · 12/09/2020 22:03

I bought my son a Banksy canvas last year (he was 11 then) - the one of a purple phone box that looks like a collapsed Dalek, it was a hit Xmas Smile

formerbabe · 12/09/2020 22:05

My ds really likes airfix kits...planes, cars etc

LadyCatStark · 13/09/2020 17:24

DS (11) has requested a mini fridge for his room and some cans of Dr Pepper and Iran Bru to put in it 😂

LadyCatStark · 13/09/2020 17:26

Irn not Iran. My phone is full of autocorrects today 🙈

GhostTypeEevee · 13/09/2020 20:06
