I have a bit more time on my hands than usual and thought I could make some nice bits for Christmas but I don't know what to make. Can you wow me with ideas or things you have made? I'm thinking things for our house rather than gifts.

Last year I was on mat leave and had a lot of time on my hands. I got lovely Christmas cushion cross stitch sets. It kept me busy and they were useful.

I made Christmas bunting years ago and enjoy hanging it annually. I also gifted some to family members and enjoy seeing it in their houses over the festive period. I always enjoy Christmas cross stitching too. You could make decorations for the tree and all kinds of wreaths. Pinterest is your friend! Happy crafting!

What crafts can you do?

I'm mainly a knitter and crocheter (I've got the wreath pattern above and I'm hoping to make it this year) but I also dabble in sewing and other bits and bobs.

I have made (either for my home or others)
Christmas bunting
Tree skirt
Permanent advent calendar
Knitted nativity x2
Crocheted nativity
Fresh greenery door wreath x2
Christmas cakes
Gingerbread house
Chocolate log
Various gifts like knitted dolls clothes

This year I'm making hand knitted socks for my daughters. I stripped last year's wreath and I'll be making another one. I also want to make a couple of accessories for DD1's sewing kit that I'm putting together.

Quilted table runner
Quilted place mats
‘Merry Christmas’ bunting
Advent calendar

I can crochet but prefer sewing. I like cooking but other than the Christmas cake that's all done nearer to the time. I make a wreath and table decorations every year

Have you thought about making a Christmas chutney? :)
I did that one year, it needs a month or so to sit and I found it took me a while to make one day :)
I also made a really nice Gin and lime marmalade! My grandma loved it, you can get cheap small jars from honby craft, it's a nice gift for people that dont want anything or you only see once a year!
