AIBU that I am just a little bit joyful that this is already open? Especially on a such a rubbish weather day when it feels like autumn has just arrived with a bang...? Just brings a little bit of sparkle and joy in this house.... and stops me looking at nametapes....

I saw this the other day and thought it was left over from last year!

I wish there was a little more detail though so I could start to feel really Christmassy.. Its four months until the big day - not nearly enough time!

CaramelCandle · 25/08/2020 11:33

Thank you for posting this! Definitely the perfect day for it

Musidora · 26/08/2020 15:49

I enjoyed browsing the JL Christmas shop the other day! Slightly odd themes this year though... Their notions of Impressionist and Renaissance art are very different from mine Grin

MrsKingfisher · 26/08/2020 17:20

Seems they're following the same batshit themes as yesterday, bunch of bananas, trainers or a monkey for your tree?

I like the snowflake fairy lights, hurry up winter!

MrsKingfisher · 26/08/2020 17:20

Yesterday?! Last year..I hate this bloody phone!

Cherryrainbow · 26/08/2020 17:23

I love the idea that there are people out there though who say "you know what this room is missing? Llamas and avocados. They just scream xmas!" I wish I was more whimsical, sigh x

PersonaNonGarter · 26/08/2020 17:25

I am completely into the Bloomsbury lamp. I love the crackers stuff.

Mrsfussypants1 · 26/08/2020 18:13

I'm not going to look just yet, I'm saving John Lewis Christmas shop until my day off!

TailEndCharlie · 26/08/2020 18:27

Now the Shake for Gin snowglobe is a think I never knew I wanted....

Love the Japan theme esp the kimono and fish

Stompythedinosaur · 26/08/2020 20:46

I love John Lewis decorations! I really need an outdoor christmas koala decoration!

MrsElf · 26/08/2020 21:03

And Matalan's, I noticed this morning. Flamingo Christmas bath mat, anyone? spoiler: it isn't even REMOTELY Christmasy

Stompythedinosaur · 27/08/2020 00:09

Having had the benefit of a thorough look through both JL and matalan, it is hard to choose between JL's "post impressionist grass" (it is a bundle.of fake grass) and matalan's triceratops christmas tree topper (irritatingly just labelled as a dinosaur, when I'm convinced that anyone keen enough on dinosaurs to buy such an item would be able to recognise a triceratops).

MrsElf · 27/08/2020 20:35

Oo but you see I liked that triceratops. Not as a tree topper Confused, but I decided it just needs a pair of wire cutters, a crocodile clip and a glue gun... Grin
The ‘art themes’ at JL just made me cross.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 28/08/2020 08:35

I was so excited to see it live but a little underwhelmed. I like traditional tree decorations and there wasn’t that many in that style. Some of them are definitely from last year as I bought them.

Some of the colours might look better in real life. I’ll be crossing my fingers Liberty’s are as good as normal.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/08/2020 20:31

I'm very tempted to do a rainbow tree this year 🌈🎄

Stompythedinosaur · 30/08/2020 02:02

Blue i would love a rainbow tree, but it wouldn't fit all my much love mismatched decorations.

JuiceyBetty · 30/08/2020 10:09

I'd love a rainbow tree but like Stompy it wouldn't work with all the ones I've collected over the years!

GreyGardens88 · 30/08/2020 17:57

Well out of all the themes Bloomsbury is probably most like the style I like. I like the "owl in wreath" decoration

everythingisginandroses · 30/08/2020 18:57

I like the Bloomsbury theme best too, the colours are sumptuous. I have added the tree ornament in the shape of a stack of books to my wishlist - it doesn't match my other ornaments at all, but I can't resist it.

MrsElf · 30/08/2020 22:56

What you need, everythingisginandroses, is ANOTHER TREE Grin

Friedbanana · 30/08/2020 23:42

This made me so happy! Please can we update whenever we spot another Christmas shop open! I absolutely love all of the art of Japan range, and also love the Bloomsbury stack of books!

Pepperwand · 31/08/2020 12:19

A Renaissance octopus bauble is truly the item I never knew I needed Grin.

Cherryrainbow · 31/08/2020 12:57

I'm probably going to stick to traditional red green gold etc this year. My oh would kill me if I got any more decs lol he might just let me get away with some nice babys first xmas for our little girl if anyone spots any nice 1st xmas stuff it would be appreciated! X

Dockray · 31/08/2020 13:08

MrsElf- you are completely right another tree is required when you run out of branches for decorations I'm up to 3 trees now and will need to move in the next couple of years so we have space for a 4th
