Like many others am starting to plan for Christmas to give me something to do. DH and I don't spend a lot on each other, preferring to buy something together that we wouldn't otherwise (new picture/piece of furniture/weekend away).... with a few things to open on Christmas Day.
He will always appreciate books/favourite wine/spirit/toiletries/clothes but I always like to find one thing that is different but useful. Not easy as he tends to buy what he wants when he sees it.
I know from past years there are many other people in the same boat.
I very much doubt that starting this thread now will make it any easier but always worth a go!

I bought dh this micro Bluetooth speaker & it's great.

Tk maxx can be great for wine decanters too

Got the magnetic wrist thing for DH last year but he has never used it - along with all the other DIY stuff he collects!
This year so far will be a new Everton shirt (boring)
He has recently bought a bike so maybe something bike related but it maybe yet another passing fad.

Decanter that's it! I couldn't remember! Thanks for the TK Maxx recommendation.
BiddyPop · 26/08/2020 09:37

I bought a small port decanter (TK Maxx), and a 500ml bottle of port from M&S (we had taste tested it and its nice) for DM and DF 1 year, for using when it is just them rather than a whole gang - they really appreciated that to go with cheese and crackers. For those thinking about decanters.

Keeping in the drinks theme, I've just received these big ice cube trays for dh. There's 2 so I might gift one to him & one to his brother.

That reminds me of the ice sphere mould I came across in tkmaxx last year. DH very happy as uses in his goldfish bowl gin and tonics. Can't find the exact one but similar in John Lewis here

buckeejit · 26/08/2020 21:21

Are the spheres easy? Think we'd go wrong!

lexloofah · 27/08/2020 08:40

bucketeejit yes I was worried they would be quite lame spheres or too fiddly but the vacuum you create when you push the top on sucks water up so they are whole. Can't speak for the ones I linked to but the ones we have work a treat. They take ages to even start to melt.

Mine was reminiscing about a miniature of fancy vodka I’d put in as a stocking filler last year, so I’ve ordered him a full bottle 😃

Valt single malt Scottish vodka

My partner has asked for a Keysmart! Search it on Amazon very useful ahaha they have little wallets too.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/09/2020 09:22

Somebody was talking on another thread about a water flosser.
My DH isn't a gadgety person but might appreciate this. Not sure but sharing for anyone else whose other half likes practical gifts.

@trickofthetail1

During Lock Down my DH was missing hand pulled Real Ale and discovered a Brewery in a Bag Real Ale brewing kit. It is a bag like the one in a wine box and comes rolled up in a tube. You just add water and the yeast and leave it for 30 days. There is a tap in the bag which dispenses the beer when it is ready, He was very impressed with the beer, one batch is finished and the second one is quietly brewing away. You don't need any equipment so it is easy to do, we have given them to my DB and DBIL for birthday presents. We gt them on Ebay but Lakeland are now selling them.
This could be a possibility for my DH - thank you! Which particular beer did your DH enjoy as there seem tk be numerous kits.

I'm still struggling for DH - I thought a couple of ideas on here would solve some of my problems but recent conversations with DH have discounted a couple of things.
So resurrecting this thread!

I’m thinking of getting him a tile as he is always misplacing things but apparently Apple are going to bring out their own version soon so not sure.

The best year I had at presents for DH was when I looked through his phone at all of the things he had screen shotted over the year. He thought I was a mind reader 😂

Postmanbear · 19/10/2020 08:55

Last year I got him golf lesson vouchers and a driving experience, both were an epic fail as it required him to book them etc. I’ve realised he prefers things he can actually open/use on the day.

trickofthetail1 · 19/10/2020 09:07

RockingMyFiftiesNot, sorry I have just seen your question. Golden Ale and IPA have both been enjoyed. The dark one is more of an acquired taste.

MrsHSW · 21/10/2020 09:08

Here are somethings that went down well with car nut DH.
Peg board for shed - got a metal one off ebay.
Tool roll - personalised (same ebay seller as below)
Metal tool box with leather straps - car themed - he likes Minis - ebay.co.uk/usr/mogster67
Leather strap key rings with car brand/his initials on - Etsy

Haynes Manuals? DH got a new car this year so that's definitely on my list and might get a heynes diary too.

But struggling for main gift.
A 3 month Readly subscription. Thousands of magazines you can read online, including big titles. Perfect pressie for my Dad. Then I got one for myself! I found out about it last year on a thread like this.
gb.readly.com/
Do you know that you can get all of the big magazines for free through the RBdigital app? You just need a library card number.

KitKatastrophe · 25/10/2020 15:55

Last year I got DH a Tile keyring- you can use your phone to find your keys and vice versa.

3 months later he started working from home and hardly uses his keys but such is life!
