Just loving this thread ! ( even if it is September ! . ...I cant budget to do it all in one go !)

Love the idea of alcohol..would never had thought of it .
Ds1 (19) and ds2 (18) can have some unusual beers / ciders ..and ds3 (16) can have a can of shandy !!
( do they still do cans of shandy ?)
I don't really have any offerings as our stockings are literally " fillers".
Low income on my own so all the good presents go under the tree.. otherwise there would be nothing there !.
Stupid I know ..but i still like them to come down to a sprawling mess of presents !.

bizzey · 04/09/2020 12:06

Sorry forgot to continue..
Thank you for the sweets liks and the hotel chocolat idea .
Did get worried when I went onto the official hotel chocolat link !.
Sweets , hot chocolat and alcohol..what more could they want 😂😂

bizzey · 04/09/2020 12:43

Me again !
What did go down well last year as silly/ boring fillets were xxxlarge metalic paper clips and bull frog clips .
From Tiger. ?£1/2 ish and bookmarks that looked like lips or feet .
As I said my stocking fillets are literally that .
Things to put in a stocking because i have to put something in them !

bizzey · 04/09/2020 12:44

Oh they do always get a new mug each year .

MarshmallowManiac · 04/09/2020 20:48

Got a CD and a Rodney mug delivered today to add to my stocking fillers.
I find Greggs/Subway/Starbucks vouchers all go down well in our house, also highlighters, hair bobbles, face and feet masks, sweets, coloured paper clips, fluffy socks, choc coins, and choc Santa peeking out of the top. Bizzey. Smile

Great list Jules, I have a pair of Reindeer earrings I take out at Christmas too. Grin

Bumble my DS who's just started shaving about once a week Grin loves getting shaving gel/cream and after shave as stocking pressies. [santa]

Girls are definitely easier!
My Nan always did us stocking type pressies, lots of little pound shop bits a pieces she'd picked up over the year. Most of it was rubbish but I miss it so much!! She would put so much effort into it.

Alicenwonderland · 04/09/2020 21:23

I'm debating Christmas/funny face masks but I'm really hoping we don't have to wear them by Christmas!!

I'm fancying these Alice [santa] and I'm going to put some face masks in for the DC that they like at Christmas.

Mine are starting Uni this year, I’ll probably include things like pens and highlighters for one, she learns best by writing notes.

This year I think I’ll include phone chargers, food/coffee, things they probably won’t be able to afford.

MarshmallowManiac · 04/09/2020 22:35

Mine are starting as well AdoraBell think I'm also going to send my DD a Christmas care package before Christmas too to cheer her up.

Usually with an Advent Calendar included. [santa]

I love the idea of starting them off with their own collection of decorations. Definitely going to do that. Where do you buy from? My decorations have mainly been gifts or are things the girls have made over the years. They groan when the bits made at Brownies come out but I love them!

ElfDragon · 06/09/2020 09:03

We’ve always done it in a way - I had a couple given to me when they were born (name/year types) so they always knew they were ‘theirs’. I also found some little elves to replace elves I’d always had on the tree when I was growing up (still have them, and they go on the tree now but we’re too fragile when the dc were little!) and so I got one for each of them (have similar features/hair colour, so individual).

And then I keep an eye out all around when decorations come out. I’ve picked up from all over, depending on interest and theme. Garden centres, Sass and Belle, Rex London, Hema, Disney store, even gift shops on days out anytime after Halloween! I got one delivered with my Ocado shop last week (not technically a Christmas decoration, but right size, has a hanging loop and is related to something special for one of the dc, so new Christmas decoration it is!)

As you might tell, I don’t have a themed tree 😂 but we do all love hanging up the decorations and the memories associated with each one, and it also means that there’s not so much arguing over who hangs what - they all hang their own! Not that there would be much arguing these days (they’re 16, 14 and 8), but when they were younger it stopped the bickering too. Win-win!

Nacreous · 06/09/2020 09:27

I make Christmas decorations with felt and embroidery thread - so a Christmas tree with buttons for decorations and little beads sewn to it, or a bell or a heart etc. Will try and attach some photos. Could either make those or maybe make up little kits for them to make them depending how crafty they are?

Love the idea of starting a collection of baubles for them KateF

Love a tree filled with memories Elf Smile

Nacreous your decorations are fab.

OP posts:
HumphreyGoodmanswife · 07/09/2020 21:37

Ooh we do this with baubles. Started on their first Christmas and get a special one every year. The main tree in the living room has coordinated(roughly) 'normal' baubles as a base then all DCs scattered around. Plus all the baubles DH and I have bought from hols all around the world. I love hanging them up every year with reminders of the adventures we've been on over the past 25 years and what DCs were like each year we bought theirs Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 09/09/2020 17:06

Any ideas guys for the stocking of a 16 year old DS, really struggling, have bought a lot for the girls. TIA

We have a bauble from Lapland Humphrey and one from Disneyland. Smile
