As per the thread title really... I am thinking of getting a switch for the kids this year, but would like to wait for the best bargain time- any ideas when that usually is? Thanks!

Difficult to tell this year given that retail figures are understandably dire right now. Maybe set up a Camel Camel Camel alert on Amazon and when it gives you a good price (you set an ideal price it will alert you at if it's at or below it) check everywhere, as it's probably going to be the same price somewhere else too.

There's unlikely to be any sales on it this year. Their supply chain has been hugely effected by the pandemic and that minute as soon as they go on sale they're selling out. Some people are predicting the supply issues might not be sorted til the end of the year. It might be best to buy sign to alerts on stock checker sites and get one at the RRP as soon as you can.

Thank you, I had hoped the shortage would be over by September. It looks like getting one during the summer holiday is the best bet- The only thing that concerns me there is having less of the warranty when it's actually being played with, as it would be bought so far in advance.

Hum interesting I hadn't been keeping a close eye on it DS had been askong for one in November for his Birthday. But I was reluctant as knew end of last year they had been talking about a switch pro release at some point soon.

Had a look and that's been put on hold, was hoping if they released a new versions could get the original cheaper. Don't really want to fork out full price or more on a Swich if it won't be long before they bring out the next version either.

Well, I've done a bit more research and have decided against the switch - apparently the controllers drift after a certain amount of play time due to the way they are designed and made, so I am going to wait until they either fix the problem or release the pro (@MigGril thanks for the heads up about that- it's apparently looking like a release for next year). Back to the Christmas drawing board for now!

Whenever they come into stock 🙈 DS wanted one for his birthday in May and we still haven’t managed to get hold of one!

I got one last year in September from Very. Hot deals had a £50 credit if you opened a new Very account then Very had the Switch at £30 off. Ended up with £80 off.

Although given everything that's happened this year I'm not sure wither there will be offers like that about.

My local smyths had been out of stock for months. It popped up at 3pm they had 5 only the black and grey ones not the blue red ones so I bought one. Just checked now and theres only 2 left. The guy at the collection point said he had no idea if they will get a delivery in August etc. But that nearly every day people have been asking for them. I would keep an eye out as there may well be stock coming up in more smyths/argos etc stores around now. That said some of the switch games have gone down in price so keep an eye out for them x

So hard to predict this year. Normally I'd say wait for black friday for stuff like this, but this year will either be terrible or amazing for bargains depending on the state of retailers. Plus the switch is in massive demand right now.

However, the launch of the PS5 in the run up to xmas might mean the switch gets more competitively priced. And if there have been supply issues which get fixed, retailers might be sitting on a lot of them in a few months.
