Wow actually got the OH involved in a xmas chat!

When I feel low or anxious I tend to look up xmas ideas and save stuff on Pinterest, stuff like that.

We ended up talking about xmas budget for this year for the kids and each other and agreed on how much to spend and things. I was actually surprised how much he was happy to spend on our future baby girls 1st xmas as she will only be 3 months old. I thought he wouldn't be bothered!

Anyone else get any chats with the OH or is it left down to yourself? Have people started a budget plan or anything?

Weird! I have just been talking to my husband about Christmas arrangements. He brought it up.

No budget, we don't really do that, just where we will be spending the time.

Me and dp picked out (and bought) our 1 year olds main Christmas present a couple of weeks ago!
I usually come up with most of the ideas and then dp picks a few things out aswell.
I'm putting money away each month for Christmas, but will pick up bits that I see on offer throughout the year aswell.

DH and I had a brief chat about what Christmas would be like this year, it stemmed from wondering whether we could go and see DS and DIL this summer, and the practical concerns related to that. Then he just mentioned Christmas. I usually organise the presents side and the food, but DH helps. We tend to do the same food it’s just which days we eat it to work around when DS and DIL will be here, for example we had our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve one year. It saddens me that we might not be able to see them this Christmas if there is another lockdown.

Yes it is weird to think we may not spend xmas with family like we normally do! I know my mum's concerned that my sister living in England won't be able to come stay in Wales with us. We normally do an early xmas dinner as a whole family (my parents, siblings and partners, kids) the weekend before xmas and spend xmas day at home. Even shopping this year will be different I imagine, more online! X

I tend to do the same when feeling low, have a look at Christmas things online/Pinterest etc!

My hubby has birthday in December so doesn't really like to engage in Christmas conversations before that 😂 but with lockdown and a baby due in October he has mentioned a few things already too!

It is a sad thought that there could be chance we can't have Christmas as normal.

DH had agreed to me renting a cottage we rented a few years back as we need to go "down home" really. But then the landlords decided that, although it was available on the website for 5 days, they were only letting it for a week then which was well over our budget (the same price as our summer holiday - just on the rental!) so that's been abandoned.

I'm going to do some hunting this week though for others locally, as there's so much (too much) going on between both our childhood homes at that time of year, we need some quiet space for just our nuclear family or DD cannot cope (nor DH and I but we'd survive, she'd meltdown).

Normally DH won't talk about it until late autumn - he had been getting earlier into late summer (so he would know what to buy and put away), but this is the earliest yet!

I hope you find a nice place to go on a xmas retreat. It does look promising that places are starting to advertise bookings again. Probs best to start early as people may be looking to make up for missing summer hols x

I start planning for Christmas in June every year. I've just ordered a few bits just now actually. I tend to plan Christmas myself, DP will happily talk about xmas with me but not really bothered about planning.

I'm another who looks at Christmassy things when feeling low. It genuinely is my favourite time of the year and never fails to cheer me up :)
Currently planning my lists for presents at the moment, and looking up ideas on pinterest for arts & crafts stuff.

lostlalaloopsy · 27/06/2020 09:52

I also look at Christmas Pinterest boards when I'm feeling low.

DH and I had a chat last week about what big presents the DC would be getting. Very strange for him to mention it this early!
