Best wrapping paper this year?

I really enjoy wrapping presents, and finding good quality wrapping paper. I didn’t go for a theme or set colour this year, just lots of different designs.

I have used wrapping paper from lots of different shops this year.

I bought some pink snowflake paper from John Lewis and was really pleased with the quality but the Nutcracker paper from there was really thin and disappointing.

I bought two different types from Sainsbury’s and it was awful. Kept tearing, and wasn’t cheap so won’t buy from there again because the one I had from there last year was also poor quality.

Had 2 types from Tesco & Paperchase and were all good quality.

Which paper did you like best and what shops will you avoid for it next year?

Costco double sided. Always and forever. That stuff can last me 2 christmases for a family of four

I got lovely shiny pink/silver snowflake rolls from Matalan.
still got a full roll left for next year :)

Father Christmas went eco this year with brown paper packages tied up with string or ribbon. They came with a North Pole seal on too and looked fab. I stuck to using up all the shiny stuff I bought last year but think I'll be taking a leaf out of FC's book once it's used up. We had gifts given in large organza bags too. They were lovely and are of course reusable. I do love glitter and shine and sparkle but the environment doesn't so things need to change.

I was impressed by Sainsburys! Usually get WHSmith but found Sainsburys to be just as good and a pound a roll cheaper.

Marmite27 · 26/12/2019 14:24

Costco double sided. Bought one roll last year. Two this. May never need to buy paper again. (But I want the teal one next year).

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/12/2019 14:26

Brown paper with red aha white hearts or red birds from Tiger. Pretty, classic, cut beautifully, sturdy but wrapped around everything really nicely. Thrilled to bits. Another reason to love Tiger.
Last year the best were from primark and matalan.

nearlythere12 · 26/12/2019 14:27

I liked the Waitrose stuff, didn't tear on sharp corners.

Thenagainmaybenot · 26/12/2019 14:45

Any recommendations for Christmassy material or cloth bags for wrapping?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/12/2019 14:49

Wilkco last year was great and strong. Had a bit leftover. This year it was thin, ditto Sainsburys.

PinkJam · 26/12/2019 16:59

@BearSoFair Ot was the extra wide rolls I bought so maybe it’s just them or the specific type I bought. Was a shame because the design was really pretty.

I mainly stamped brown paper, but grabbed a roll from lidl for the last minute bits. I was really impressed by the thickness and quality of it, especially for the price.

Floralnomad · 26/12/2019 17:17

Totally agree with pp about the Costco double sided it is brilliant and very good value .

Squ1ggle · 26/12/2019 17:18

Bought some huge rolls from tk maxx that will last me a good few years the quality was brilliant

Elderflower14 · 26/12/2019 17:21

I don't do rolls of paper. They are my worst nightmare. I give it a gentle shake and before I know it its the other side of the room. Also with my dyspraxia I can't cut it in a straight line.
I buy packets of sheets of paper... Its a family joke that I buy it every year... 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

Kuponut · 26/12/2019 17:26

I just got Tesco 3 for 2 and it did the job.

rednsparkley · 26/12/2019 17:27

Double sided paper from Costco.😍 It is amazing, never rips. I have four kids so each gets their own design. I've had three years out of the current two rolls 👍

ParkheadParadise · 26/12/2019 17:29

I bought lovely paper from home bargains this year. I picked it up as a spare roll but ended up using it. It was thick and didn't tear. I went back and bought another 3. £1 a roll.

Utini · 26/12/2019 17:29

I bought m&s paper this year and thought it was good quality. DD loved the Frozen themed paper. They all had squares printed on the back which is so handy for cutting straight!

confusednorthner · 26/12/2019 17:33

Morrison's has been good for us, unlike the Poundstretcher one Santa decided to wrap stocking bits in....

LooseleafTea · 26/12/2019 17:37

We ignored aesthetics to use a pillow case for each present. It felt quite nice to just fold them up again after rather than have lots of recycling (I know some people reuse their paper but we don’t manage to).

For those I posted I used brown paper with red ribbon

tinselvestsparklepants · 26/12/2019 17:38

I'm working my way through an old London A-Z. Dh loves looking at it and always checks 'where he is' before opening his presents. It looks lovely with red ribbons.

Helenluvsrob · 26/12/2019 17:41

None😂
Reused gift bags all the way.

Peachypips78 · 26/12/2019 17:41

We collected newspapers during Nov and Dec and used that with lots of real big red and green ribbons. We have used them for three years. We cut up Christmas cards for the labels.

The presents looked beautiful if I do say so myself!

danni0509 · 26/12/2019 17:44

The brown paper idea, where do people buy this paper from pls?

GloriaMaximus · 26/12/2019 17:49

@danni0509 I bought a 25ft roll from whsmith. I saw it in card factory too.
