What's the big present you've got your 9 year old

I name changed and can't be bothered to change it back.

I've looked at DD pile and there is hardly anything to get excited about. She wanted a DS or laptop. I know she won't use either.

I've only got her bits. Probably spent £150. I've got her clothes. A phone case. Selfie stick. Bits of make up. Slime. She's not really into toys.

Her younger DD has dolls, accessories barbies LOLs. I feel so bad x

A Gravitrax with three little expansion items. Hopefully he likes it. I also got him a puzzle and he announced last night that he doesn't like them any more Shock

DD 10 has only asked for a Nerf gun so I bought her that from Santa.

She got a racing swimsuit at her last gala a couple of weekends ago and that was her most expensive gift but she's already had it.

However her favourite gifts regardless of how much is spent on her are always the inexpensive ones. One year she asked for tape from santa so she got a mixture of nice craft tapes and masking tapes of different thickness and colours, absolutely made her day. Another year it was bubble wrap.

Harry Potter Lego and a Kano coding thing. Books and clothes and bits and bobs apart from that. Nothing huge really.

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2019 21:49

Switch lite and a game. He got the switch last year and to be honest I don’t see how it differs but it was the one thing he was really asking for.
That and I think he’s going to be massively excited about his Harry Potter invisibility cloak!

9 year old DS has an Air Hogs Supernova which was at the top of his list and underlined about 5 times!

Wincher · 24/12/2019 21:55

Mine has Nintendo Labo for the switch to share with his brother, plus another Switch game and a Spurs training tracksuit. He's also got books/minecraft stuff etc. Feels weird that we haven't really got him any toys!

My two, 9 and 6 have both got a concert ticket (little mix) and a new switch game each as the ‘big things’ then they have clothes, books, crafty stuff and little bits like bath bombs. I reckon I’ve probably spent about £150 each or so on them - plus about another £10 each on stockings.

Phoebebuffay13 · 24/12/2019 22:01

Harry Potter Lego, I've got 4 sets for her including the great hall, and then loads of Harry Potter stuff!

My 9yo son has a (2nd hand) bike. I'm poor and he'll grow out of it fairly quickly, but it's good used condition. Other presents include an echo dot for his room, some chocolates, toiletries and clothes.

My family will have a couple of bits for him, and his mum will have bought him as much if not more than me, so he should get a decent enough haul once all is said and done.

Main present is a guitar for our 9 year old. Ten year old has just gotten an old iPhone so a few accessories for that and some clothes.

Their grandparents have bought them a Nintendo switch for 9 year old and 10 year old a laptop.

Sarahlou252 · 24/12/2019 22:14

Cubby Bear! She has an October birthday and has been pestering for it ever since!!

LadySpratt · 24/12/2019 22:15

10 year old DS is getting a small digital camera, sheepskin moccasin slippers, and a box of chocolate-dipped clementines. Little stocking fillers include a small snow globe, paint-your-own Russian dolls (not entirely sure why he’s fascinated by them, but hey ho), socks and a small tub of yummy chocolate drops.

Elzbells · 24/12/2019 22:16

My 9 year olds main present is a kodak camera. She is really into photography and gets some great shots on her phone so wanted to encourage her to explore it further.

She also has Lego, our generation stuff and other bits and bobs.

I wonder how much is that it feels weird the first year you don't have a toy-laden-presents Christmas because they're a bit older now?

Christmastreejoy · 25/12/2019 02:37

My 9 year old has a robot (anki one) my 12 year old has lego

We also got a family gaming pc and a 3d printer (which we’ve had already) so they are spoilt this year

Fettyheather · 25/12/2019 03:26

To all those who buy laptops, what sort do you go for? I am clueless. Dd12 has been asking. Agreed to check out sales, with her making a contribution. We don't have ipads. Ideally I'd like it to last her through school.she likes the look of the surface go. Any advice appreciated.

Hoolajerry · 25/12/2019 06:41

Ds is 9. He has:
Ninetendo headphones
Army issue back pack
Marvel lego set
Cobra paw game

ValkyrieCain · 25/12/2019 08:58

She has an easel and a polaroid camera.
