What are you buying for any 17yr old boys?

I have no idea what to buy him. I think we may get a Kindle.
Other than that, I'm stumped. He's asked for a Fallout style Cola bottle, however I cannot find one for love nor money.
He's very into gaming, and Series.
He has a job, and so money isn't needed this year. He does attend college.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

A kindle is very limited unless he reads a lot of books- it needs a monthly subscription. More 50 year old woman than 17 year old boy

bigbubbles · 21/12/2019 12:31

Is this someone you only see occasionally? how much do you want to spend?

WhoEatsPopTarts · 21/12/2019 12:31

Trainers
Air pods
A couple of games
Band t’s

RJnomore1 · 21/12/2019 12:32

What about clothes?
Trainers?
Headphones?

(I’m assuming it’s your son btw might be a bit much if not)

elephantoverthehill · 21/12/2019 12:33

A Vans back pack, lots of toiletries, a book and money towards a new skateboard.

PollyPocketLucyLocket · 21/12/2019 12:34

He's my DS. He hasn't said any thing other than the Fallout merchandise, and he has everything he could possibly want anyway.
I just have no idea this year. Thought I'd see for ideas on here.

My ds has lap top for Xmas as his broke and he needs it for uni work. He's had it a bit early so will be having a sticking on the day-books, chocolate, shaving brush and razor, socks and a watch stand.

ScarlettDarling · 21/12/2019 12:37

@bigbubbles How ridiculous to say that a kindle is more suited to a 50 year old woman than a 17 year old! Loads of teens love to read, mine both do although my 15 year old ds doesn't have a kindle as he prefers real books. And you don't need a monthly subscription for a kindle, you just buy books from Amazon as and when you want to!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/12/2019 12:41

My ds loves real books so hasn't got a kindle of his own but uses mine instead but he does have the kindle app on his phone so he can download pall the free classics.

PollyPocketLucyLocket · 21/12/2019 12:42

Yes, that's the thing. He does love real books. Maybe not a kindle then?

I've got a 17 y/o dd - she's getting a Levis denim trucker jacket as her main present, then as smaller/ stocking presents: Power bank for her phone, recycled-eco socks, book (she reads a lot of sci-fi), jar of fancy kimchi (random but she likes it), hand-thrown mug.

I think at this age if they're working it's more like getting an adult presents, so things they might not feel able to justify getting for themselves (eg dd would probably buy herself a chain store jacket rather than Levis) or treats (fancy toiletries for example). Throw in a couple of jokey things (dd has a white sugar mouse in her stocking every year & some pens because she labels her diagrams for college in a million different colours) and you're sorted.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/12/2019 12:44

DS had a nice watch last Xmas. What about a suit for interviews/smart nights out?

umberellaonesie · 21/12/2019 19:45

I find the unboxing you tube videos good for inspiration for our late teen boy.
Recently got him a back back with anti theft features which went down well.
He is getting sports shop vouchers for Christmas as he is trainer obsessed so can treat himself to a new pair without me moaning about him saving money

Serin · 21/12/2019 19:58

VioletCharlotte · 21/12/2019 20:06

My DS is 18. He wanted clothes, so I took him shopping and let him choose his presents. He has very specific tastes so I didn't want to buy the wrong thing and have the hassle of taking it back. I've also got him an Echo Dot, plus the usual pjs, socks, pants, aftershave, chocolate, etc

dontdothatonrepeat · 21/12/2019 20:08

@umberellaonesie could you link to the backpack please?
Struggling for my own ds17!

VioletCharlotte · 21/12/2019 20:09

@PollyPocketLucyLocket does he go to gigs/ festivals? If so, maybe Ticket Master vouchers?
