Mine would have been:
Mints or marshmallows. I hated them (loved other sweets), yet people kept giving them to me, all year round! I had to be trained to say thank you anyway.
Phone jail: not that such things were around in my childhood, but I bet it's an ironic stocking filler in some households.
Socks. As a child I saw them as "sensible" clothes, and wore them as little as possible.
Toothbrush.
Coal. In one of the Thomas the Tank engine stories, an elderly lady is promised "some coal as a present from Thomas". Had she been naughty?
