Aaaargh! Been so busy with end of year school stuff I didn’t follow the forecast. Now I see it’s going to be a hellish furnace day!

So much for picking up meat & drinks, and clearing up the garden area for all the guests coming over the next days. I was also going to drag the extra table indoors and see if the chairs all fit for Xmas lunch. And get a head start on the cooking.

Now I’m trying to figure out what I can do from my list that doesn’t involve lifting, lots of trips upstairs, using the oven or opening doors to the outside world.

Anyone need their presents wrapped? It’s the only thing I can think of! Xmas Grin

Me too. I was planning on shopping but that weather puts me off as I don't drive and have to catch a bus to the mall. I think I'll put the air con on and make Christmas decorations with DD!

So you’re not in Scunthorpe then! 😂

Lulu1919 · 18/12/2019 21:04

...or UK !

Skittlesandbeer · 19/12/2019 10:06

Errrr no. Victoria, Australia. And the forecast just changed to 44o! I think that’s close to a record high. I suppose I could always cook the Xmas food on the bonnet of my car?

Anyone want to swap weather at all?

...I’m off to look up Scunthorpe while I wait for offers to pour in!

Aircon. Wake early. (Really early). Turkey out of the fridge and into the oven by 7. Oven off at 10.

Coles oven chips and lots of salad prepared on Tuesday. Coles meringue nests with peaches, cream and custard.

TheSandgroper · 19/12/2019 13:10

NB. Lots of Coles chips. If you serve chips, lots else can be forgiven, I find.

Oh I understand... We have had 40+c for the last 4 days..was 47c in our garden yesterday... So grim.. cool change due tomorrow bringing with it catastrophic fire conditions and dry lighting... I bloody hate this time of year....
Kids have had a bout of end of year gastro too Xmas Confused

WhatTheFronti · 19/12/2019 13:28

Oh apparently it's that hot, someone (on FB my dad informed me totally credible 😁) cooked a rolled pork roast in front seat of their car the other day.... Spose saves heating up the house with the oven....but gets a jump on that Xmas cooking 😂

BillHadersNewWife · 19/12/2019 23:21

Coles bloody oven chips on Christmas day!? I don't think so! No! Xmas Grin I have those now and then on a normal day....would feel distinctly unfestive!

MIL is making a seafood buffet and the carbs will come from potatoes. Various kinds which is a nod to my Northern English/Irish roots. Bless her.

It's so hot this morning in Adelaide that I walked outside at 9.00am and ran back inside. There's that horrid hot wind....when it dies down, the heat's not so bad but when it's there, you feel like you're in an inferno.

It's forecast to thunder tonight and be cooler tomorrow. Thank God! I live on a high street and it's deserted.
