What can i get my husband?

Budget of £50 but will go higher if its worth it.

He's so awkward to buy for. He loves his xbox but he already bought the star wars game he wanted & the controller i was going to buy.

He plays guitar but has many many MANY of them already.

Doesn't drink coffee, isnt particularly fashion conscious, no hobbies other than guitar playing. He would hate an experience day and tickets to a show would be a logistical night mare to work around both our jobs and the kids & various activities. He doesnt wear pyjames or slippers etc.

Last year i got him a tablet which was gratefully received.

I considered decent trainers, but he's so fussy he's bound to hate them. Clothes he needs jeans but I'm not sure what size he is as hes put quite a lot on lately but says he's dieting come January. (He does this every year).

Help!

I got DH a Chillys water bottle and he takes it to work every day with icy water in it. That was definitely a success.

Mind you it helps that the water at his work is tap rather than water cooler and a bit grim.

My husband is a pretty serious guitarist, I have many years of guitar related gift buying experience Grin
What kind of stuff does he play and what kind of gear has he got? My H always wants new strings, would he appreciate a really nice quality strap? Or strap locks? (My H is obsessed with strap locks and will not play a guitar without them...) What are his leads like? The Mogami gold series guitar cable would be a nice gift, or the Ernie ball braided leads (especially if he gigs, these take a beating well).

What about an effects pedal? Some of the Boss pedals would be around budget and are a reliable brand, or a crybaby wah pedal if he doesn’t have one.

If he's planning losing weight in January how about a smart watch/ reconditioned Fitbit? Or £50 Amazon voucher?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 17/12/2019 14:35

I got DH a new leather wallet, one that has RFID so it protects his cards. Also got him a small powerbank so he can charge his phone if he's out and about (the battery is always running low on his phone!) a shirt and a sweater.

livingthegoodlife · 17/12/2019 14:37

Fitbit is a good idea.

Foody things? I've bought mine a marble cheese board.

New pants?!

Betterbegoing · 17/12/2019 15:08

I’ve got mine a decent water bottle and a daylight waking clock thing, with built in radio.
Does he have a decent set of headphones?

GingleJangleScarecrow · 17/12/2019 15:58

Cigar Box Guitar kit?
OH also has many, many guitars - he really liked making his.
I got one from The Works but there are loads on Amazon.

Plectrum making kit has also been popular in the past and, as @RenardeRenarde suggests, straps are always useful.

Off to look up gold guitar leads now Xmas Grin

Arrowfanatic · 17/12/2019 18:40

He already has a Samsung smart watch, and has Bose headphones. He also uses his warrant card as his wallet, probably wouldnt like to carry a second one around (see i said he's awkward).

I'll look at the guitar stuff thanks @RenardeRenarde i dont know anything other than he has more guitars than our house can fit Xmas Grin

Does he drink beer? I got my husband a hamper with different nice glass bottles of beer, not the ones he would usually buy himself, and just one of each. He loved it. Xmas Smile

TheBrockmans · 17/12/2019 19:46

A house with many guitars needs many guitar stands maybe like this or whatever suits his style. Lots of guitar slogan t shirts and mugs.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/12/2019 20:00

My husband is getting

A Le creuset coffee travel mug
A dilbert day to day Calender for his desk at work
Lord of the rings moleskin
And I've adopted a Polarbear in his name as he's constantly telling the children to turn things off to save the polar bears

mousemousse · 17/12/2019 20:04

I've got mine Lego as he's a man child

myotherface · 17/12/2019 20:15

My DH is super awkward to buy for too. He's always hated pretty much everything I've bought him apart from Curb your enthusiasm dvds. 🙄 I got him a wallet ninja, a weather station, a cricket mug and a powerful torch for the garage. First year I've not tried to get something exciting that he thinks will be the best present ever. I'm sure he'll love these boring presents much more.

Airwhy · 18/12/2019 15:18

Another one here who has given up trying to buy 'exciting' gifts (that invariably get left on a shelf unused). Mine is getting some t-shirts, a hoody, new runners, a new bottle of aftershave, comedy gig tickets (more for my benefit than his Grin ) and a travel tech box.

He says the best gift I ever gave him was a Leatherman multi tool but unfortunately they last forever so I won't get the opportunity to buy him a replacement any time soon 😂

CanISpeakToYourManager · 18/12/2019 15:36

I got mine tickets to the Moving to Mars exhibition at the Design Museum and he will take the kids after Christmas (I booked out the time in his calendar). A present for me, really.

Also, some jeans and tshirts, a massive blanket for the sofa that I will invariably nick, some sweets that I will end up sharing... Sense a theme?

Oh and some thing (I think it is a game?) to do with the game console that the whole family will play.

Purely for him: some rubiks cubes he wants for his collection.

Arrowfanatic · 18/12/2019 18:50

I've so far got him a mini pool table (which no doubt the kids will steal) and storm trooper stress ball (which the kids will probably steal) and a chilli sauce set (he LOVES hot food). Also have tried my luck on sizing and got him some jeans and a mega death t-shirt.

I just feel the pressure for a WOW present, you know.

DH gets a few items every year as tradition... box of wine gums/jelly babies, nice bottle of red, toiletries, pjs and socks/boxers and the latest andy mcnab book.

This year he is getting...

Blood orange gin
2 x Levi's shirts
Escape room day out
Aftershave

I'm also taking us away for a few days between xmas and new year.

mrsbyers · 18/12/2019 22:19

A turntable and maybe a favourite album on vinyl

FearlessSwiftie · 20/12/2019 06:04

My sister got her husband a photo calendar with pics of all of his favorite hockey players. That was an addition to the bigger present (xBox) and costed her like £5 for printing and 2 hours of creating the whole thing with some easy calendar creator she got from photo-calendar-software.com. Her husband is a hockey player himself so she highlighted the days of his ice workout sessions as well. And also added the Bdays and their wedding day since he usually forgets about it lol. I personally have never used this calendar maker software but she says it was quite fine with a noob like her haha
