DS1 is 12 and claims that either he doesn't really want anything or he doesn't know what he wants. However, when a parcel arrived for DS2 today he looked a bit gutted so I have to come up with something good. Does anyone have any bright ideas? The only one he's come up with is air pods, but at £138 he's not having those, plus he'll only lose them. He could have some cheaper ones, but he has a perfectly good pair of headphones and I really don't see why he needs another one. Anyone? TIA

Bluetooth speaker? I got one for my 12 year old nephew. I did get some air pod type things for DD in TK MAXX for £16.99... not sure if they'll be any good but look fine.
Boys this age are so tricky to buy for.

northernlittledonkey · 12/12/2019 18:34

Yes, get him some air pod type speakers. If he says he’d like some? Obviously a cheaper version?

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 12/12/2019 20:35

The apple AirPods are the no1 gift for his age group, you can buy cheaper ones however, have a look at groupon etc.

cryingcatmeme · 13/12/2019 12:49

What is he interested in? You could make a Hamper for him based on this. For example, does he like Japanese things? Put snacks together. Also things for relaxing or his room. Cosy blanket with his favourite things featured, Funko Pop, mug with hot chocolate and his favourite biscuits, popcorn, and maybe cinema vouchers.

Does he like the youtubers Sidemen? I purchased clothing off their website for my ds.

Fortnight vbucks?

Driving lesson?

Ifly experience

IlluminatiParty · 13/12/2019 12:59

Echo dot
Graphic novels
A game for whatever console or system he likes
A lovely fluffy dressing gown (my son's like hibernating)
Dart board
Pair of converse

LegoLady95 · 13/12/2019 13:34

Echo Dot (£25 today on Amazon).

Driving lesson! Brilliant, thank you. There is a place locally that does under-17 driving experiences and I think he'd love that. Xmas Grin

Panic rooms session with a couple of friends?

Does he read much? My nearly 12 yo devours the Derek Landy Skullduggery Pleasant series. Some book shops (indy ones) do book subscriptions based on things they've already read and loved. You could get, say, a 6 month subscription?

A lot of my son's friends are really into 'survival' stuff like survival packs (tin with first aid kit, fishing gear, fire starting, little saw etc), rope and caribiner combos, clever multitools etc. Any good?

Just got my 11 yo some socks from Super Socks (saw that on here, thanks MN!) with the lurid face of his beloved cat printed all over them. They're really good.

JemSynergy · 14/12/2019 16:59

my 12 year old likes funko pops and funko keychains.

NotYourTypicalNerd · 14/12/2019 17:20

Bumping this for some more ideas!

DS currently got:
Football
Powerbank (travelling to Europe with school next year, so kind of an essential)
Slippers (tradition)
A pair of Vans
A pair of headphones (NOT airpods!)

And that is it! I literally cannot think of anything else!

Slightly older ds has a camera, mini-fridge and a smartwatch for example!

Ohyesiam · 14/12/2019 17:26

Got my 12 yo ds
His dark materials graphic novel
Some other graphic novel series
Book of dust trilogy
Loads of art stuff
Spray paint to graffiti playhouse
SAS survival handbook and survival kit in a tin
Screen friendly gloves
Giant gummy octopus ( seen in qwerkity but cheaper on line)

That’s all I can remember at the mo.

lexloofah · 14/12/2019 21:49

Mine has asked for AirPods but won’t be getting them, apart from his big pressie he is getting:

Calendar and annual for his football team

Solitaire, the wooden one with marbles as taught him the card came in the summer and was a lifesaver as struggles to occupy himself

tickets to football match

Books, his English teacher recommended Jake Atlas ones plus the Tom Palmer foul play football related ones

Ramp for his scooter

He wants clothes as well, all sporty label stuff, sigh

Hohonoshow · 14/12/2019 22:07

Switch
Nike vapormax
Xbox games
Sports type clothes

PrettyPurse · 14/12/2019 22:35

Chocolate
Young driver lesson

Padded seat for his bike
Gloves
Powerpack
Onsie
1kg nutella jar

CantspellWontspell · 14/12/2019 22:45

Card game (Blame, Masquerade, Coup or Exploding Kittens).

I'm getting my teenage boys a black obsidian necklace each.

Fleece bedding set (groupon has deals).

Alarm clock/speaker/bedside light

Nice hoodie

One of those vinyl figures of a game or film character he likes.

You can get airpods like earphones for £13 from Amazon.

Beanie hat with bluetooth speaker.
