Please can you all inspire me for my Christmas day starter is by telling me what you are having?

Yes, I've been thinking about this a lot. Currently it is smoked salmon with creme fraiche panna cotta and beetroot and horseradish relish. Does that sounds too much?

Mum always did prawn cocktail. She used to cut the tomatoes and cucumber into teeny tiny cubes. Miss you mum.

We always have mushrooms soup.

Smoked salmon blinis served as canapés half an hour before. I dont like to feel too full before the main event!

On request in my DS (5) we are having smoked salmon in little Yorkshire puddings (he got a taste for smoked salmon last Xmas!). I'm going to add lemon / horseradish creme fraiche for the grown ups.

Corn on the cob, with butter melted into it. Yum.

We've had homemade soup but this year I want to make a chicken and pork terrine with cranberries and pistachios and crisped up pita.

ALWAYS prawn cocktail and smoked salmon with brown bread in this house, just like at my parents :)

Lobster Thermidor here this year, but usually have smoked salmon.

It’s usually seafood to contrast with the main course, easy to prep in advance. This year we are having retro prawn cocktail with avocado. In the past few years we’ve had homemade salmon pate with crispy toasts, scallops with rocket, crab with brown bread, and cod with a fennel and orange salad.

Prawn ring!! With sweet chilli sauce and Marie rose sauce for dipping.
