Wrapping stocking presents?

Just that really - we didn't really have stockings growing up. Stocking type gifts would be wrapped up under the tree instead. But we are going to do stockings this year for the DC. Are presents inside stockings generally wrapped or put in there loose? Thanks!

Wrapped. Well, I say that because that's what I do but that doesn't mean it's the only way. And I have sometimes regretted that while wrapping tiny things.

We have always wrapped stocking gifts. In our house, FC brings the gifts in the stocking/sack and then gifts under the tree are from us. Their stockings are fairly big so hold about 7 gifts each. One is a selection box, another a book then some bits and bobs. FC never brings anything that costs more than about £10. We use the same wrapping paper for all stocking gifts for all our children. It’s normally bright red. Stockings are at the bottom of their beds and they all bring them in and sit opening them on our bed. I love it!

Thanks both.
We use the same wrapping paper for all stocking gifts Ah that is a great idea!

Wrapped though each child has a different colour wrapping paper so it is easy to tell whose is whose when Father Christmas is filling them late at night on Christmas Eve.

TheBrockmans · 09/12/2019 12:20

Oh and different paper to the ones we use.

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 09/12/2019 12:23

We always wrapped the stocking presents loosely in tissue paper.

Ninkanink · 09/12/2019 12:24

Always wrapped - gives mum/dad half an hour to an hour longer in bed as the children unwrap and play! Xmas Smile

BillieEilish · 09/12/2019 12:25

If you wrap them, stockings look more full!

lovelyjubilly · 09/12/2019 12:25

As a child mine were always unwrapped.

I wrap them for my kids though. Increases the anticipation and takes them longer to open which equals more time in bed for me

Ninkanink · 09/12/2019 12:26

Have an old gift bag ready for each child, marked clearly with their name, and put each stocking gift into the relevant bag as you wrap them, that way it’s all organised and there’s no confusion when filling stockings.

OrangeZog · 09/12/2019 12:26

Wrapped. Don’t forget the nuts and satsumas as well.

Trewser · 09/12/2019 12:27

I have three carrier bags and i wrap each childs present in different paper and store them in the bags. Then just chuck in the stockings in xmas eve

Bluerussian · 09/12/2019 12:28

Yes I always wrap up stocking presents individually before putting in stockings. It's more fun that way. I do use odds and ends of wrapping paper, off cuts and sometimes recycled for that though, saving the best stuff for the bigger gifts.

MissE6791 · 09/12/2019 12:29

Definitely wrapped, it has to make a crinkly sound when you squeeze it! FC has his own wrapping paper too.

BarkandCheese · 09/12/2019 12:29

Someone on the Christmas bargain thread came up with the genius idea of using small paper bags, the kind penny sweets come in, for wrapping stocking presents. You just fold over the tops so wrapping is really quick. You can get them on eBay for very little.

BikeRunSki · 09/12/2019 12:31

Shock I’ve never given or received wrapped stocking presents!

RightOnTheEdge · 09/12/2019 12:36

I don't wrap stocking gifts.

PiggyPlumPie · 09/12/2019 12:39

All wrapped here - usually different paper per child but brown paper for all this year, with a different coloured sticker for each person.

Arrowfanatic · 09/12/2019 12:41

I will wrap the biggest item which is usually a small toy or lego set. The rest is just bits and bobs like chocolate, blu tak, post it notes, blind bags so they wont be wrapped.

QueenMabby · 09/12/2019 12:42

Definitely wrapped! FC has his own wrapping paper (with pictures of himself on it the vain so-and-so!) which is different from the family paper.
Like thewaiting our stockings are upstairs and DH and I have a coffee and come to slowly while the children open them and play with the contents!

Kanga83 · 09/12/2019 12:42

I don't wrap stocking gifts but that's only because I make them into giant candy canes with individual treats like mini party rings, marshmallows, rice cakes and some organix stuff which my children love snacking on. The kids loves seeing what treats Santa brought. I don't think my stockings as a child were wrapped but I can't remember

louisethedisease · 09/12/2019 12:45

I read a great idea on here so have gone with that this year- striped candy paper bags from eBay - pop in the item and tape shut. I went for festive colours and they look really cool .

BlueOooChristmas · 09/12/2019 12:46

We have never wrapped ours (and mine weren't wrapped as a child either). However this year I found some nice Christmas tissue paper so have decided to wrap them loosely so hopefully it all takes a bit longer.

Trewser · 09/12/2019 12:48

Love the candy bag idea! Sadly mine are done already!

CinnamonStar · 09/12/2019 12:49

I think they are much more exciting wrapped. The way the stocking rustles as you pick it up.
My DC like to tip them up and gasp as they all slither out.

I do a different coloured paper for each child which makes filling the stockings super easy, and they can see whose is whose even if they all tip them out together.

I use completely different paper to anything under the tree.
