Budget £250ish it is for ds12.

Mine 13yo has a Huawei Y6 2019 and loves it.

It's pretty quick running, decent memory and good camera which were all important to him.

It was £130 from Tesco.

Moto G7 is worth a look. Moto have built a reputation in that kind of price bracket.

I agree with the Moto G range actually - I currently have the G7 Play and love it having upgraded from my G3 and before that the original Moto G!

Can't any phone be pay as you go? If you get a sim only deal. I got iphone-mad ds a redurbished iphone for about £150. It does depend what is popular amongst his school friends, at that age.

He has asd and in a class of 9 a mixture of children with ocd/asd/anxiety he is very bright but has no idea about what is popular etc. I've had a look and the moto g7 play seems good.

Will he play games on it, like Pokemon etc? Just check it has a reasonable memory and access to the play store (or Apple store if an iPhone). If he's not asking for an iPhone I wouldn't get one, though I find it easier to set up parental controls on an iPhone as it links easily to mine - if you have android yourself OP then that won't apply.

DS (11) has a Honor 8S (Huawei brand) which was only about £100 but is good. I'd probably go for a Huawei higher up the price bracket if you are looking to spend more than this.

I've just bought dd the samsung a20e.
It had pretty good specs and was only £170.

My daughters first phone was a moto g . Great phone for the money .
