Supper/Dinner whatever you call it!! I want to start a tradition where we have the same thing for our Christmas Eve Meal each year and get the kids all excited for going to bed and all that!! So what sort of thing do you all have?!!

Mmmmmm thanks for all of the suggestions! And the votes haha 🤣
It’s going to be hard to choose - Chinese does sound very tempting as does cheese fondue!

Usually a takeaway accompanied by a G&T once the kids are in bed. Order when putting the last few presents together, then relax and realise that TV is just as rubbish that day as every other 🤣

We do a buffet usually but this year we’re cutting it down to just the good stuff. So that will be Chinese duck pancakes, duck spring rolls, chicken satay, prawns in batter and fabulous pudding all from marks.

Pipandmum · 05/12/2019 19:26

We have the same breakfast (french toast and bacon) and dinner (the usual) for Christmas day so I prefer to not have the same thing on Christmas eve. It will probably be a takeaway.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/12/2019 19:30

I do a selection of hot party food - mini spring rolls, sausage rolls, tempura prawns - all easy stuff that just needs shuffling in and out of the oven - because I spend most of the day doing as much as possible in advance for Christmas dinner, and can’t face any more cooking.

We always book a table for a 3 course meal at a lovely country pub near where my father lives.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 05/12/2019 19:31

fish pie for lunch
party food after the crib service at Church in the early evening.

Tonii1985 · 05/12/2019 19:33

My husband makes a baked ham with chilli's, pineapple, rum and marmalade. Then we have it with egg and chips x

We're doing afternoon tea this year. Sandwiches, mini sausage rolls, mini scotch eggs, mini quiches, mini scones with jam/cream, mini choc eclairs, little squares of ginger cake/vanilla sponge/toffee apple flapjack.

If we like it, it will probably become a tradition!

We go for early evening drinks with a few families. (Used to be after mass, but none of us can persuade the teens to go now.)

Then we go home for a mountain of M&S party food.

jelly79 · 05/12/2019 19:46

Used to always stay in all day xmas eve and have a table of nibbles and party food that I replenished. But since having youngest DS we have been out during the day and come home to lots of sushi and fizz

SuperSimpleSnogs · 05/12/2019 19:50

Chinese for us!

lorn195 · 05/12/2019 19:53

Buffet style food and alcohol.

wellthatsjustgreat · 05/12/2019 19:54

Growing up, my Dad always cooked Steak & Chips on Christmas Eve so my Mum could have her annual night off cooking Grin
Now that my father has died, my husband has taken on the tradition and my Mum comes to us.

Jakadaal · 05/12/2019 19:57

Baked ham, fried egg, chips and pickles

Joans3rddaughter · 05/12/2019 19:59

Hot roast pork on buttered muffins with apple sauce and stuffing with a glass of mulled wine sat by the fire. Yum Yum

OctoberLovers · 05/12/2019 20:00

Spag bowl.
Boring :/

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 05/12/2019 20:02

We always have a big ham for Christmas so we start it Christmas Eve and have ham egg and chips.... it’s low maintenance and doesn’t require very much effort.

MrsPear · 05/12/2019 20:03

Fish! Everyone has a favourite. I go for mackerel / I’m eyeing up Nigel slaters mackerel on toast idea in fact!

MustBeThin · 05/12/2019 20:11

Gammon, egg and homemade chips then we eat the gammon christmas/boxing day with other random leftover bits.

Jodie77 · 05/12/2019 20:18

Microwave meals or something else easy.
Followed by homemade mince pies, warm, and hot chocolate with marshmallows, pop corn and sweets in-front of Christmas film.

Bunnylady53 · 05/12/2019 20:25

It’s spag bol!!

shortsaint · 05/12/2019 20:28

We always go out to an Italian (liked by everyone!) on Christmas Eve lunchtime, followed by a walk (as the next day usually an in all day and no movement!) . This means it's just nibbles/ cheese and wine for tea. Plenty of time to sit and chill..,(or peel veg if we're doing Christmas dinner).

Izzwizzo · 05/12/2019 20:33

We do cheese fondue as well. Easy and most importantly no leftovers to try and find space for in the fridge Smile

stoplickingthetelly · 05/12/2019 20:38

We usually have Chinese takeaway
