Chocolate coal - or similar

Google brings up tiny rocky road out of stock from Lakeland or crocheted covers for chocolate oranges.

Anyone found anything better? I seem to remember a black molasses solid toffee lump at my childhood bonfire nights. Any know of a good recipe that might work for that?

I'm sure Waitrose had something in the "coal" line..... It was something like liquorice honeycomb half dipped in plain chocolate......

Fortnums and Masons have it in their children’s sweets range

I saw it in Fortnum & Mason the other day, it looked really realistic!

Make rice crispy cake mix with white chocolate and put some black food colouring in. Set it as a large block in the fridge and then cut it into coal-like pieces. Cello bag and "you're on the naughty list!" label and job done!

Hmmm I could copyright that idea!Shock

They sell it in Spain for 3 King's Day - it's called carbon dulce
