Rainbocorn, lol surprise or hatchimal??

I’d like to get DD one of the above as an extra present (already getting a desk and stacks of activity books plus a few other little bits). She doesn’t have any of these types of toy and I know it’s something she won’t be expecting. I have no idea which ones are the best for play or the best value for money!?

I try every year now to stay away from the faddy toys as they loose their play value very quickly. In my experience Rainbocorn I think will have the wow factor for all of 2 minutes and then never be played with again. Never had a big Hatchimal as friends told me that once the hatching had happened the same happened to them.

However... as much as I hate to say it the LOL dolls have been played with endlessly. I suppose it all depends on your DDs interests but I would say LOL have certainly been played with the most here.

Spied · 03/12/2019 18:58

Depends if you happy to keep the collection going with these type if toys.
Lol surprise is a collection really
So are hatchimals
Rainbocorns, again can be collected but I think you could be happy with one.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 03/12/2019 19:44

Does it have to be collection thing with LOL dolls?

Mine don't have a collection just a couple. They do want the LOL OMG doll this year though so I suppose we're slowly adding to it

minipie · 03/12/2019 20:06

I’d get a little live pet instead. We’ve had the bird and the mouse and both have been played with a lot. Hatchimal was too complicated as she couldn’t yet read the instructions (one of the big ones that dance and snore etc not to mini collectables). Rainbocorn never heard of and LOL dolls tbh I just hate!!

LosersClub · 03/12/2019 20:25

Definitely the lols! To me they are just plastic tat, but my girls have played with them alot over the last couple of years and they don't seem bored of them yet. You can get ones with hair now which are what my girls have put on their lists this year

CottonSock · 03/12/2019 20:27

My girls havnt touched the lol dolls. Too hard to dress.
They do like the hatchimals., but seem to be in the minority.
Prefer Lego to all of the above.

DippyAvocado · 03/12/2019 20:29

My DD has all 3 and I agree the LOLs are played with far more than the others.

Great thanks for the replies.

We've had all three and hands down the LOLs are the winners. I refuse to buy anymore Hatchimal things as like previously mentioned once they have hatched the kids no longer care. I actually liked the rainbocorns but the girls never really play with theirs. However the LOLs are out every few days, to the point I've actually given in and bought them some OMGs and the LOL house for Christmas. I think they are plastic tat but they love them.

PinkJam · 04/12/2019 07:37

I agree with previous posters that although expensive for what they are the LOL Dolls are by far the most played with.

Howmanysleepsnow · 04/12/2019 11:31

My DS loves his hatchimal. It was treated like a pet and played with constantly the first year. Now (2 years on) it’s still played with occasionally, though he’s nearly 8 now and his tastes have moved on.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 04/12/2019 12:00

Lol Dolls are the only thing out the three mentionedvthat DD5 plays with daily. The other two were one minute wonders.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 04/12/2019 12:13

last year dd2 got a rainbocorn, lol doll and some of the little hatchimals collectibles. the rainbocorn was the most expensive and has barely been played with since. the hatchimals she had great fun hatching and plays with the little figures alot. the lol doll she loved and spends most days playing with. but dd has always liked small world toys and has houses to play with them (other brands)

so in my opinion if you are spending the £20ish of the rainbocorn I would get a 12 pack of mini hatchimals (around £12 in the entertainer) and a lol doll which can be found for £8ish on offer. or if going for one then the hatchimals.

or show your dd videos of them/look at them in toy shops and see what she is most excited about.

Bemystarlord · 04/12/2019 13:29

Agree, go for the LoL dolls. They seem like tat to me but my youngest and all her friends love them and they seem to be holding their interest. Mine wants a LOL OMG fashion doll, its the only thing on her list so not hax much choice 😬

Bansku19 · 04/12/2019 13:47

Does she play with dolls? My dd doesn't like dolls and therefore doesn't want lol dolls. She likes her hatchimals and had hatchimal advent calendar.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 04/12/2019 17:54

Great responses thank you. LOL is a clear front runner. She does play with dolls and small world stuff but we’ve got Lego and playmobil mainly. I just thought one of these surprise toys would be nice as a nice as little extra present. £20 spend most likely, thanks for the spend advice nocutsnobutts

My two seem to have fallen back into LOL dolls, especially DD2 (age 7). She has been playing with them a lot recently, they only have 2/3. I have bought them these as an extra this year because to me, there better than the balls. I know exactly which one their getting and even though we don’t have many the thought of duplicates really annoys me!

I found this LOL Surprise Furniture & 10+ Surprises, while browsing the Argos Mobile app:

Sorry, I don’t know what that random statement is above the link, I didn’t write it!
