6 year old doesn't believe

Hi everyone, I'm so devastated , I think my DD who's 6 doesn't believe in Santa anymore. I don't know why I just don't see her excited for Xmas this year. She's written a list but isn't bothered about sending it & we live abroad so it's hard to get Christmassy when it's sunny & warm out.
DH said at activities last week some dads were talking about going & buying the kids Xmas presents this week & DD was listening.
I don't k ow what to do please help I'm

There are plenty of things that are worthy of being devastated about. This really isn’t one of them.

You need to calm down. 6/7 is far from unusual and not believing doesn't mean an end to happy Christmases

Now that she knows The Secret, it's her turn to spread Xmas magic and make somebody else happy. She could donate her old stuff, choose stuff for a charity appeal...

You need to be sure she doesn't believe first. Find a way of asking her, see what she's thinking. Then go from there!

I never really “believed” - I always thought it was a nod, no, wink, wink thing and I was surprised when I found out that some children actually did believe in Father Christmas.
It doesn’t mean Christmas shouldn’t be magical. Advent calendars, decorations, going to pick a tree together and decorating it as a family, playing Christmas music, going to see lights switched on where you live, writing Christmas cards and receiving them and stringing them up, making food in advance (gingerbread?), Christmas jumper day, children taking part in their Christmas concert(s), sending cards to their little friends, going out on Christmas trips (eg to visit Father Christmas or just to admire the lights and festivities at a local park or stately home or garden centre even), Christmas parties, watching Christmas films at home under the duvet ... ? It surely isn’t just about writing a list of what you want and waiting to get it?

She may well still believe in Santa, but just not be particularly materialistic and obsessed with gifts!

I wouldn't go assuming she doesn't believe, just in case she does.

Even if she doesn't, this is not a big deal. My son stopped believing at 5 (he is a very literal and logical child) and still enjoyed Christmas just as much. He was also really chuffed with himself for working it out and knowing the "secret" - we had to really impress on him that he shouldn't tell other kids, though!

As pp have pointed out, there's an awful lot more to Christmas than stockings. And she will still get the stocking anyway!

But she will believe in Christmas magic, if you make it so. My adult daughter asked me where I store it all - on top of wardrobes in big wicker baskets Awh that's Christmas magic ! And so on

Thanks everyone , your right maybe she just isn't that obsessed with the gift side of things. We usually go away & see Santa but this year we
Won't be so maybe I just need to vamp up Christmas & do some things to get us in the spirit.
