What do you put your real tree in?

We've had an artificial tree for so many years due to lack of space but this year we have a space that is crying out for a real tree and I can't wait!! But, we went out and got a tree stand to put it in and it's just occurred to me (duh!!) that it's purely a stand and as such I won't be able to water the tree. It's one of those metal stands with 3 legs and a central 'holder' that has a spike for the trunk. What has worked for those of you who have real trees? I'll take this stand back if there's a better option out there. 🎄

This sounds like the stand we have and we put water in it. Can only put a small amount in so it needs to be topped up nearly everyday, but its always worked well and tree lasts for weeks.

Ooh thanks, I'll have another (proper) look at it and see if that's an option. 😊

Ours always goes in a big bucket of wet gravel, water topped up daily. It's very heavy so also aids stability. Dh always slices an inch or so off the bottom of the trunk first and it keeps fine from at least mid Dec to 6th Jan. I wrap red paper around the bucket.
